Boltor prime sucks now? Need alternatives

So like over a year ago the Boltor Prime was like the best weapon in the game. Now I'm told it's trash.

Any alternatives out there? I'd like to avoid farming prime components in the void unless they made them more common. I remember just attempting to get a Latron prime. Played in the void for 2 days and never got all the needed drops.

theyre only saying its trash cause it is really strong. dont let what other people say stop you from playing the game the way you like it. if you enjoy the boltor prime then that should be enough reason to play with it.

Plenty of better alternatives, sure Boltor P is helpful up until you go 100+ levels, hell it does reduced damage quite early before that even when going pure damage on it. While for example a Hek or Vaykor Hek can easily 1-2 shot a level 100+. Or even better yet, look at Tonkor, might not look like much without the right mods and crit, and with only 2 shots in the mag it still packs a punch.

Is Boltor P trash? No, but i would still recommend other weapons over it unless you're MR2.

- how damage 2.0 works
- the best way to mod / forma your weapon correctly for the situation
- how to aim and react quickly,

most weapons are all fine.


If people call Boltor Prime "trash" or "sucks", I wonder what word they would use to describe the likes of Hind, Tetra, Buzzlok, Gorgon, etc.


It's the same ol' "let's trash-talk the popular meta item" you see in many games.
I rather have a smart player with a Boltor Prime in my corner than dumb players with a nuclear bomb likely to blow themselves up.

I wouldn't ever recommend Boltor P. Not because of its stats, but because it looks dreadful. Like, some sort of edgelord dragon pleasuring device. Frikken weird.

Oh god that is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lovely description of how a weapon looks, but i agree with how it looks. Far from one of my go to weapons in terms of design.

Boltor and Soma are low level room clearance. Not trash, but not good either by december 2015 warframe standards.

You go against a level 100 sortie 3 type, and you don't have 10 seconds to sit there spraying them. On top of that, its not going to be just one level 100, its gonna be a dozen of them, and your boltor/soma are nowhere near being able to take care of that situation.

If you play lower levels, if you get out the def/surv after 20 mns, they'll still do it (and the majority only plays this, hence why soma and boltor are the most used guns on ps4 and pc according to devs). Anything later in the game needs powerhouse firepower, or else you will just have to get carried by someone better equipped, which isn't anything new either. Sorties are full of people that are ill equipped just waiting for others to dps for them, the loki to do their spy, etc etc.

In theoretical terms aka warframe builder, a boltor P can output about 40.000 burst dps. Later stages weapons like a Vaykor Hek do 170.000+, and Tonkors pull 200.000++ with splash damage ontop of it. Its all needed to play against bigger enemies too, so yea. Boltor no good.

As someone who barely uses anything other than my boltor, it's epic as long as you put some mods on it. Anything stock is going to be trash.

Actually, I test how good weapons are by trying the stock out on factions that take less damage from it.

I don't believe that Boltor Prime has got worse recently, its just as reliable and powerful as it always has been. Some of the needs of players have changed alongside the challenges but if you need a projectile weapon primary, the Boltor Prime is still that weapon. That said, if you are looking for another weapong to deal with different foes, challenges, or just bored as people get sometimes - tell us what you are looking for and the forum here can likely give suggestions. Latron Prime is a good option and its parts have temporarily been readded to the void so that is a plus; the Justice Hek and (later Vaykor Hek) is great if you are looking for a high damage weapon with lower initial investment and good potential; the Tonkor is great for room clearing while not blowing you up with friendly fire; the Soma Prime has similar damage potential to the Boltor Prime and Latron Prime while having a large mag and being very accurate; the Opticor is a good option if you liked the Spartan Laser from the Halo series it works similar to a Daikyu bow charge-wise; and if you are unable to get your hands on the Latron Prime the Grinlok with its Perrin Sequence weapon mod might be a good substitute.
