Dont start this questline, it made me quit the whole game. ill probably never play warframe again, its the worst quest in any game ive ever played and you get hard locked into until you complete it.
i dont know who made that decision in the developer team but they killed the game for me.
no wonder 90% of the player base fell off when this quest came out

Actually the update was a huge success and the games population increased by 450%, it's widely regarded as the best update the game has had and is looked back on by veterans as a high point in the games cycle

This just proves the OP can't read because the quest literally TELLS YOU that the quest will take multiple hours to play and asks you to type out a confirmation that you understand to continue.

And here's an unsubstantiated claim. Do you have a citation for the claim that the game lost 90% of it's player base? Because according to the Steam player charts https://steamcharts.com/app/230410?ref=dtf.ru#All at the start of Febuary 2022 (before New War was released according to the wiki) the game had a daily player count of just under 58,000. By the end of the month it was up to 62,000. The game peaked that year at around 92,000 in July before dropping back to 58,000 by December. It has continued to fluctuate between 50,000 and 100,000 ever since with one spike up to 115,000 in March of 2023 (about the time of the Duviri Paradox release).
There was no single "90% of player base fell off" event. In fact the average player numbers have actually gone up with roughly 40-50% of the total player base taking healthy breaks between updates.

What is the issue with the quest? It clearly says with huge warning box what to expect and how long you approximately will be locked out of rest of the content. It only takes 4-6h to complete and you won't lose anything during that time.
If you are this impatient then you shouldn't play f2p games because they attempt to get money from impatient players.

I can understand disliking the questline, but what do you feel would be the main ways of improving it or making better quests in the future?

Same here. I am in a state of depression atm. I am stuck in NW but cannot reset/abort the quest and go back to where I started. I don't mind if I don't get the "cool stuff" that comes after NW; I just like doing missions, lvling warframes and testing out builds and I have no problem with just staying in the areas that are available before NW. I am well aware that there was a warning before the start of the NW quest and I was prepared to spend some time with it, but - unlike every other quest in the game - it was also too hard for me to do (at least for me; I am also well aware that some players find it easy...!). And now I am stuck.

This quest is a literacy and an IQ test. Not even a skill test.

Some people simply just get filtered by it.
