New War - hate it
Recently came back to Warframe after 5 years playing other games. I had about 1 600 h in the game previously and thought it would be fun to get back in. It started alright, I had some fun (but feeling a bit underpowered) but then I decided to do the New War quest to kind of catch up. And now I am completely stuck - and I absolutely hate it. The horrible idea that you cannot do it in parts and play other missions that you actually enjoy inbetween. I just don't know what to do - I am getting nowhere in New War AND I can't get back to where I was before I started it and just skip the new bits. Shall I just give up and quit???

I think it is mean and unforgivable of the devs to construct such a questline that - de facto - locks you out from playing a game that you have invested over 1000 hours in (and hundreds or even thousands of dollars). Every other quest you can skip and even if doing so will lock you out of certain parts of the game - and I am fine with that. I don't mind running around the basic star chart. And I don't mind missing out of Steel Path or the more difficult part of the game - if that is necessary. But this is just evil and UNFORGIVABLE.
The whole world gets turned upside down during this quest. Locking other activities makes sense.
And you got a warning before. I believe you even had to type something in the box to confirm that you are ready to commit to it.

I don't get how people get so frustrated by it. Got drunk, wobbled my way through it in one evening. Was kinda fun in some places, kinda boring in others. As it is a once and done deal, I see no issue.

how ? you had over 1k hours in game you struggle at the quest ? my friend that had less than 600 hours in game he beat it with out too much issue.

Teshin part, switch element to match enemy weak element, Operator , Hide and use smoke , Boss fight, Roll and shot, repeat til boss dead , Final boss is not hard, just timing thing.

You can literally finish it with an unmodded level zero necramech, railjack and warframe, and saying it's "unforgivable" when there's a damn disclaimer telling you that you're gonna be locked out, making you type out a prompt bascially making it so you can't start it accidentally, makes you sound like a damn baby

I also got stuck in New War, back then I only had very few hours, I was at the stage where 'potatoes was only gained from Nightwave' mindset, and all I wanted to do was my Nightwave so I could get one? xD Got stuck at a later stage than you but I also failed a lot of times on Teshin part, really can't remember how I finally beat that stage I guess luck, the other part I got stuck on was really terrible i had to quit, there is no point in keep trying and failing over and over again it will trigger you more, instead I spend the rest of the day googling "wth help" and saw that I actually had a choice between 3 and should only do 2, (being vaque to avoid spoilers) so next day I tried again this time with better knowledge of what the skills I have do and finally completed it, I can now honestly say New War was really good and I'm happy I finished it. You can do this, best of luck.

If you are not having fun then that is 100% the right choice to make. If a video game isn't fun then it is a waste of time. If you come back later you will be less frustrated with it and I am sure you will beat it.

If it's something you don't find fun, then by all means you're right to uninstall. I hope one day you decide to come back and try it out. It's really not that bad. However I think it's disingenuous when you say that the quest is mean and unforgivable. The game tells you outright with a warning that there is no turning back and that you will be locked out of everything else until you finish. That's on you and only you for not being prepared. Not the devs or the game.

Are you really going to uninstall the whole game because of 3 hours? How did you get 1000 hours in this game and quit here?

There has to be another reason. You can literally go drink water, calm down, come back and beat it in 2.

How does anyone get stuck at the Teshin section, it's basically an interactable cutscene.

In my experience, some players tend to rely heavily on their warframe abilities. Teshin doesn't have those abilities and thus some players would struggle there. With enough experience with the mechanics and instead focusing on weapons, modding, and progression it tends to be a little easier to switch between different playstyles in Warframe.

Decided to start all over again, only because I really, really want to play Warframe (the normal game. that is). Spent over two hours with just 1/3 of the Teshin part of the questline. Everything was just confusing. I could not get the hang of the glaive movement system. Could not find two of the crystals we were supposed to smash, and while searching, the first crystal reset and I had to start over egain. Over and over again. Died or fell off the cliffs because of misfiring the glaive. Finally made it through, but it took hours. Hated every moment of it --- so much.

That sounds awful. You have convinced me to not ever start this quest unless I get desperately bored. Thanks for saving me a future headache.
