Warframe
They might not get me back playing with 1999 nostalgia
Ok I like(d) Warframe. Have a ♥♥♥♥ ton (2000+) hours in it and I am MR31, 32 actually but too lazy to do the Test atm! ;)
I bought couple of times that Prime-Bundle with 4000 Platinum and 90 days boosters.
More than 3 times iirc.

But

It (1999 content) does not look good to me, but that's just personal taste and this all sounds way too much "tryhard fan-service for gen-z and youngsters.
I think one thing that made Warframe stood out was actually Frames not having a real human face. Now them putting them on feels so gen-z style. But that's just me. You might disagree and think totally different and its ok. Just for me it feels that way. I know its only on those new Lich-ish frames and such but still not something I wanted or need.
But to each their own.

Even as a hardcore motorbike enthusiast I am really hyped about that passage in the game but nothing where it will get me back into playing it constantly.

TL;DR
Mostly I will jump in, buy the stuff I can buy with Platinum, maybe farm a couple of hours the other stuff and then logout and let it be again.

Sorry!

They are infected people wearing proto warframe suits; similar to those Hayden and Nadia Sudek used in DarkSector. Those in DarkSector also had the face revealing covers for the head while warframes are all infested tissue in the shape of a human. That said, DE has stated that at least the warframes shown as members of Hex would be getting "Gemini Skins" later for those that want to equip them, so that players could essentially play as these human characters with their own voice lines and such down the road. Essentially, yeah; just separate characters using the powers associated with a given warframe.

More0 was also big on the Tenno being energy beings, or them being in the exosuits the majority of characters in-universe think the Tenno using Warframes are. Sadly, they quite years back when 2nd Dream proved Tenno to be more Surrogate or Avatar controlling warframe kiddos. Understandable, but it was sad to lose such a good source of writing debate and logical lore examination. I hope the Gemini Skins work out on that end.

Lore wise, I bet the ability to develop the characters will depend heavily on whether DE tackles this departure as straight time travel shenanigans or if it is more an alternate tangent reality with different rules of time and space akin to Duviri. One has weight; they other is ethereal. Like cotten candy you know?

It hasn't actually been clarified what they are just yet, since Hex lore hasn't been firmly established as of yet. There's clear DarkSector vibes (which for me is aesthetic tied as I haven't played DS only heard through others and seen artwork from it), but that isn't per se being carried over fully. Protoframes seem to be human w/ exosuits (looking at Dead Space suits), especially given the romance option which could get weird & complicated for the writers further down that road.

I don't know who "More0" is but to me energy beings always fit more across the board. It allowed for the moving between frames of varying shapes and sizes; it fits into when a frame "dies" yet revives; it allows for customization of the PC w/ no restraints cause their bodies would be malleable due to energy nature; and also puts a layer narratively that stops immersion breaking via you being in a "Frost" then running into a "Frost" that pulls you out. The frames are mass produced bioweapons so that scenario isn't breaking. So for me this Hex route is the best way of handling both concepts in having the exosuit users outside of the PC territory for the most part as well as having a multiverse that enables people to use multiple Gemini skins to their preference.

I'd wager they'll do a bit of both as the ideas aren't inherently fully against each other. The Zariman and even Entrati labs show that pockets of distorted space can exist within branches. Like the CODA infected (I don't know if that's the actual tag for the tv infested but I'm running with it given how often its referenced in the trailer) showing up in what appears to be new infested railjack missions (which I love cause I want railjacks to continue to be expanded on not put to the side); rather than things being altered via time shenanigans could instead just have it be that they crossed branch-lines. Mostly to avoid the inherent issues with standard time travel stories.
Did I miss something? Besides the quest they haven´t shown anything about it. Everyone knows quests are max 1h long.

So lets wait

I believe Albrecht has some research in his lab that might connect to recent grey strain technocyte creations. If you would like, DarkSector is actually here on Steam, though I would wait for a sale. Its not too bad though I have no idea if the multiplayer still works. I agree with the statement that Railjacks should be expanded.

The Coda infested would be the Infested Liches that DE are going with; boy band infested personifications at least it seems. Not really my thing sadly but I hope it works out for someone. If I had to guess, the use of that description in this case hints at their tied existence originally as musical personalities and as the Infested state being a "Finale" or conclusion of their forms - one they want to share. The term Coda can refer to the ending passage of a song or dance and I think that is the connection to go with their boy band deal.

TLDR: It's sci-fi so perhaps anything is possible if it's reasoned out in a sci-fi way?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting conversation. I hear some talk about how are tenno/operators able to fit into warframes? I wondered about that also, until some Dr. Who (TV series - BBC) came to the rescue with some possible to borrow sci-fi geometry, as well possibly antman sci-fi physics could be borrowed from.

Point is if the Tardis can be the size of a phone booth on the outside, and the size of a medium sized city on the inside, then I'm sure Orokin technology in a fictional universe can allow for a warframe of any size (on some quantum level) to allow an operator whether the size and height of Arnold Schwarzenegger or a super strong fictional Ellen Ripley to fit into a slender limbo warframe, for example.

For all we know the inside of the exo-suite could be the size of a NASA mission control room. lol.

Or take antman physics where the operator when entering the suit could miniaturise to a small size and grow when exiting the suit, even the animations leave it up to the sci-fi geometry imagination.

But IDK. The Lore that's unresolved or left open to the imagination is vast, but if any of it is filled in it needs at least, imho, to have a modicum of sci-fi science logic, from some universe. XD All good. Just thinking outloud as exo-suits (or WFs) are interesting sci-fi concepts!

"The TARDIS is a machine that can travel through space and time. An invention of the Time Lords from the planet Gallifrey, the Doctor stole their own version to escape from their home world and travel the stars. In a universe full of weird and wonderful technology, the TARDIS stands out – it's no ordinary spaceship."

Excellent comparison! One of the thematic inspirations for Warframe, Bio-booster Armor Guyver used a similar concept. The "armors" once bonded overcome and overlap the host bonding at the cellular level having a generally larger mass and density but when not needed the host can more or less displace the armor part of this mass in a gravitational anomaly or pocket dimension depending on source. This means that the armor once its form is decided can displace the host's matter as well, or increase it as needed regrowing the entire individual from only the control metal itself as long as the device remains intact and needing no further matter to convert. Later, a super sized organic version of the Guyver but without a host is found and it can convert a normal Guyver into energy that then is absorbed and becomes the mind for this Giga Guyver. So they had sorta the full range there!

The Tardis comparison was one a lot of lore conscious fans on the forums liked. Being that the inside of the warframes might be different on the inside than outside while DE Steve joked that he personally had preferred the Tenno themselves being more akin to the Brains in Jars deal that the Lovecraft Mi-Go like doing to poor humans! We sorta have the inbetween of the energy beings and the warframes as suits in taking it towards the movies James Cameron's Avatar or Disney's Surrogates (that one with Bruce Willis). All the potential reveals were interesting though the people in suits was what folk in-universe outside the Orokin Executors, the Council of Seven; were told. The Tenno were super soldiers made and trained by the Council and their Dax and equipped with fancy super power exosuits that many identified as the Tenno themselves probably by Orokin Elite intent.

This is cool. The Guyver tech sci-fi is awesome.

This is why I like sci-fi. Art, science, imaginative engineering and creativity all rolled into a rich tapestry of possibilities.

Genz didn't exist in 1999. Mainly GenX/Millenials that're nostalgic for the 90's/y2k time period
gen z starts in 1996, too young to remember the final years of the 90's tho
It's the end of Warframe. What does Albrecht say? Something along the lines of "It ends where it began.".

For DE that is Dark Sector. Warframe ends where Dark Sector began... The future is Soulframe... uggg.

You might be onto something here. 1999 is kinda a last straw so to speak.
I mean for anyone who knows how Warframe became into existing and how they started out their first concepts, one has to wonder if this is just a last:"Well, you did not want it that way in the beginning, now that we have a huge fanbase that will eat everything we put out, we will show you how we wanted it to be and you will like it no matter what!".
Just my impression and highly subjective assumption.

The phrase is also the translation of one of the Requiiem Void language symbols.
1999 looks like the worse thing yet they have done. That tank scene looked stupid and the only thing I will do is get whatever frame and weapons that come out of this mess and drop it as fast as I can. That is not Warframe.

Cool. No one asked you to stick around.

And if you believe 1999 was the worst thing they have done then you never played Duviri or Railjack when they first came out.

That is wrong! i asked him to stick around

But i dont recall asking you to stick around

Um no, not only have they not at all showed signs of ramping down; but they also have plenty of arenas to explore within the universe that 1999 only furthers. They've also repeatedly stated that Soulframe is unrelated to WF canon. At most 1999 can serve as an homage to Dark Sector that fits within the WF universe that sets things up for where they plan to go forward.

Um you don't get to decide what is or isn't Warframe, you can have your preferences but not anything on the definitive side. Everything shown in 1999 IS Warframe in 10 years playing this game eyes. Its just an evolution of the story and expansion of the universe and I can't wait to have the full thing. The only ones that get to definitively say what is or isn't Warframe are DE.

I don't see why people feel the need to complain about free content. It's not like the game is forcing you to pay for it or "you have to play this update or else you won't get Lavos Prime".

The devs are trying to be innovative and creative but you can't please everyone. Can you imagine if Warframe stayed the way it was back in 2013? These same people would whine about how there is nothing to do in Warframe.

It's also important to note that the amount of people who hate the new upcoming update is massively outnumbered by the people who are looking forward to it.
