MR 5, 5th time was the charm
Sworn to not use a cipher for this, I was wondering what year I'd pass this test.

I know much has been said about MR 5, but I think it needs to be reworked and here's why:

The Lotus tells us that this is a test of intellect, but it's really a matter of doing the test enough times to get good at the test. At this stage of the game, players aren't seeing alarm puzzles that challenging.
So, playing the game more, won't necessarily get you better at clearing MR 5, because the puzzles in the game are far simpler. That's the issue, and why the MR 5 test needs to be dialed back just a bit.

Anyway, 5th time was a charm for me, with no practice runs.

You mean you didn't first try it? Those things are piss easy

Not really sure how they could re-work it when the test is probably one of the easier ones I think; hell - hacking is so easy to me now, I have not 1 time in 10 years used a cipher and have only failed a handful of special hacks from end-game maps. Hell - I didn't even know you could spin the corpus ones both ways either lol, so watching a YT video just now blew my mind.

My advice - take a second first to look at Corpus ones and visualize the pattern since all lines need to meet. Then go top left in a circle with the middle last, and anything not lined up will be a quick fix. Grineer ones... IDK - I just mash space bar until it goes away :cryptocool:

Just wait until you see the Narmar ones later - those are weird

Cipher use is fine. When you are on your 10,000th hack, you start to ask yourself if the hack is the point, or if the other side of the door is the point. It takes 0.1 seconds to slap that Y button, and I got places to be.

While Grineer hacking puzzle is just timing.

Corpus one are just about lining up the outer edge first and then the middle.

just wait until you reach mr 9 and 18 or 19 tests , those are annoying as hell
(you have to sneak kill all hostiles without being seen WITHOUT abilities AND ranged weapons , the only thing you can use is a melee one)

There are loads of threads on the net made by early players struggling with MR5. I'm not making something up here.
I'm up for a challenge but again, nothing in the game preps new players for MR5, at that low level. It doesn't matter if it's easy for someone with several hundred hours, easy for someone that ran it in practice several times, or easy for someone that used a cipher to clear it. (not saying anything is wrong with using ciphers)
The tests prior to and after MR5 are indeed skills gained in gameplay, at that player level.

Good pointers on the Corpus puzzles. You can't know the placement of the center, on the more complex examples, until you get the edges linked together.

Might be able to break that one with Wisp?

Her passive is that she is invisible while in the air, so if you toss the mods on her you get from Osteron bounties with the Owl Sentient boss icon (like how Amar has "Amar's Hatred"), they increase your bullet jump time and also reduce gravity. Then you just need to glide around with her and deal with the enemies.

Also - not 100% sure if it would work here, but you might also be able to use something like Redeemer and heavy attack since that is like a super accurate pistol shot, but it's melee so I think it is technically silent lol

Am MR16 soon to be 17 so I can find out soon I guess

I just think about making a circle for Corpus cipher, that drastically helped a lot back when Sortie was released, wasn't able to Cipher Ship had me screaming inside.

Yeah, I noticed there were a lot of YT guides for tips on how to complete those.
I came over to this game after several play throughs of Baldur's Gate 3, where you do quite a lot of stealthing, and though it's not required much in WF at my level, I still stealth around just out of habit, using only melee weapons on a lot of my missions.
At least on BG3 though, the game gives you the exact vision field to stay out of for all foes in the area, to avoid detection. That would be handy for these tests.

I know some people struggle with MR5... some people also struggle with taking a shower once a day... so... the issue isnt the game, or the bathroom -- the issue is the person.

The sword you get together with excalibur umbra makes that test a cake walk

Before doing the MR 9 and/or 19 tests I suggest building Falcor from clan dojo. It's a homing glaive that with even the most basic of damage mods will clear those tests for you simply by throwing it in the general direction of enemies. No need to do the heavy attack explosion, just hold melee to throw it and it does all the work.

No one tell him about the Narmer version.
