Volatile (Railjack) This mission seems unreasonable.
I need to shoot vents to make the core cool off. I understand that and would do that. But some of the vents are fake I guess? I don't know sometimes I shoot them and they work and sometimes they don't. I have no idea why.

Any advice on this mission?

Not all vents are "shootable" at the same time. I don't know how it makes sense, because it doesn't, DE juist made it this way. You have to find the vents that have the blinking effect on them, which shows you you can shoot them.
It seems they wanted to add some more randomness to it for some reason.
You have to be precise with the shots. Aoe attacks like from missiles, will not open them unless it's the missile itself that hits it. Just keep your eye on the map, get to the point, wait until the thing is at a good spot within the brackets (middle to 80 percent and not at the end like some smoothbrains do, you'll get used to how much it cools down), then shoot.

Yeah I noticed that you can't use aoe stuff for it. I am using an akbolto and that seems to work. I can't seem to find the one I am supposed to shoot fast enough. Does it have to be the one that is flashing? Last time I tried I could not get another vent open after the first one. I ran around the bottom shooting all the vents down there too.

Another question I have is how many vents are there? I counted 10 on the bottom floor (two sides have three vents the other two sides have two vents) and one above each console for a total of 14 vents. Is that all of them or am I missing some?

I'm not completely sure it is the map I think about, but there are also vents in the two small corridors connecting two sides of the big room.

There is always exactly one vent to shoot, and it will be marked on the UI when you get close to it. Just wander around the whole room while the bar is filling to find it, then wait nearby until it is time to shoot it, repeat.

That is the mission I am doing. I think the corridors are what I was counting as two of the sides. There are two vents in each corridors. three on the bottom floor outside the corridors on both sides. So 10 on the bottom floor unless I am missing one.

I just tried again and I am not seeing any marked vents. I ran around and looked at every one I know about (so 14) and didn't see one get marked. I didn't even find the right vent once that time. How close do I have to be?

Edit: So I just did the mission three times in a row and this last time it started marking them. I don't know if I ran into a bug or I went blind for awhile there but I beat the mission. A lot easier when the marks are there and with the marks I found some side rooms with vents that I didn't know about so there are more than 14 vents.

I just really never want to do that mission again now. Thanks everyone for the help and advice.
