Is the duviri paradox one of those quests you get stuck in?

Like if I want to go back and play with my friends in the middle of the quest can I? Or will I have to finish the quest first?

In terms of narrative progression, I would recommend not doing it until you get to New War. If you prefer things make sense, don't do it until after you finish New War. If you enjoy story twists and reveals, do it right before you start New War.

Any other order can make it feel very disjointed and irrelevant.

its like an hour long quest tops its really not that bad

You can hit escape and go back to your ship in the middle of the quest. It saves quest progress up to the last check point thing you have.

I just did the Duviri paradox for the first time recently. You can exit it at any time and go back to the main game.

I did the opening and 1 mission after you get access to a Warframe before switching back to the main game to play with friends.

When I went back into the paradox it picked up where I left off and I was able to complete the mission.

According to the popup when you go to exit you will pickup wherever you last acquired an intrinsic point

I played Duviri when it first dropped and I was locked in. Maybe it was changed in a hot fix?

It's definitely been changed, I got into it as well not knowing what it fully entailed and you can back out of it at any time.
