When they make a 1999 part 2

Just thinking about "The Hex", the six proto frames in this quest line (that we know about) - and i was thinking about what the Next Six proto frames should be:

Obviously the iconic, classic frames should be a priority:

Loki not being included in the Core Six is understandable, but as a part of a "B' team, he could easily fill the role of recon and subterfuge - I just see a scenario where the Loki hero is talking over Radio to the Hex and starts using Switch Teleport to relocate them, disorienting the team, all while invisible, and then he maneuvers everyone into a small town square around a fountain - before hitting the whole group with radial disarm - all just to make a point. they have their limits as a team, and he's willing to help them.

Rhino leads to a bunch of fun potential conflicts. Nothing as classic as a PS1 Spiderman Rhino boss fight. Let the big guy charge headfirst into a wall - only for rhino to go through the flimsy 1999 building, or seeing Arthur get caught up in a Stomp for the first time.

Frost and Ember would make an interesting tag team match, between waves of ice and flaming meteors from the sky.

And, of course our last classic slot should go to Valkyr, a poor woman in a straightjacket and proto-frame suit, whose hysteria and rage make her fight like a mad woman.

Then we have the sixth slot to introduce a new girl.

Doesnt looks like it but i really hope more frames will get 1999 treatment. Would absolutely love to see next charismatic batch of og frames such as Ash, Loki, Frost, Ember, Rhino.

Constant quarrels between stoic Frost and riotous Ember + hothead Rhino with anger issues + Loki playing on everybody's nerves + Ash silently judging all this.

i highly doubt DE gonna Expand more with Warframe 1999, But if they planing to keep make every warframe has proto frame version, that will be very cool, i wanna see how Wisp , Hildryn , Mesa , Ash looks in proto frame version, but that seems too much work for them.

If the update ends up being extremely well received by community it is possible for DE to have an incentive to expand upon it, but yea, for now it's a long shot.

At the very least, they should think about giving us more proto version skins of other frames for plat. It's a no brainer win move.

Wonder if Proto-frames have a chance to be the next Prime cycle style thing (can't make new frames forever)

There are a lot that would be interesting to see the original form - Revenant / Inaros / Valkyr / Voruna / Nidus for example would probably be 5 I would really like to see. Though - maybe Garuda instead of Voruna as I sorta prefer vampires to werewolves.

Limbo and Mirage might be pretty rad too; but as fairly tertiary characters I doubt they would get a focus until the end/final waves.

The "Hex" proto-frame skins will be sold for plats to begin with. So, everything will depend on how much profit DE makes from those 6 (Excalibur, Mag, Nyx, Trinity, Volt and the new guy 09)

I'm sure DE would gladly figure out something lore-wise to sell us some more. Like the most played frames or those who sold the most premium skins, or the most requested from now on...

My guess is that we'll have some "Echoes of 1999" update later in 2025, with maybe a couple more proto-frames, and after that... I suppose that will be all, unless this stuff sells a lot.

I wouldn't call these characters "proto-frames" but rather if they are similar to Hayden, the suits they are wearing are the proto-frames.

i mean i could see them add some antagonistic proto frames since too many npcs with shops/functions would get pointless at a point.

something like a nidus working to spread the 1999 infested or a vauban being the weapon designer behind that tank boss they showed. that sort of thing could work nicely


another option would be a third party that isnt involved directly

something like a dante that just records the events that play out while not helping any faction that take part on the conflict directly


basicly small side stories or just people to chat with/taunt you if you happen to run into them

Nah, it should be about On-Lyne. They are obviously the best and brightest in the Warframe universe...
