It was fun but
back to Warframe (9.2k Hours) after almost 150 hours of TFD.

Everyone who plays Warframe for a little longer will have reached the point where they say they need a break. Since I use looter shooters to relax from PvP shooters, but felt like I was sitting in front of a wall in warframe, I thought I'd give TFD a try.

First of all, you can tell that it's heavily inspired by Warframe, which is no secret, as the TFD developers said so years ago. TFD looks very good, the skins are cool, the gameplay is action-packed, there's a lot to explore, and i had alot of fun, BUT the grind started to feel miserable after 100 hours.

Sometimes you get a crisis in Warframe, but TFD is on another level... everything you need except cosmetic items can be farmed. But sometimes it feels like it takes so long that, at some point you just lose the fun completely. Of course, there is also the option of using real money and P2P is not a problem in PvE games, but in TFD you realize that this is exactly what the developers want (and not too little). In Warframe you can do that too, but you don't feel compelled to do it for a second... But TFD feels like it invites you to leave real money because grinding feels like a waste of time. You often just can't progress for HOURS at a time because nothing you need is dropping. If you still don't have the one item you need after the sixteenth run or so, your wallet looks pretty good... ngl.

And of course, there are the lucky ones who get everything after 2-3 runs and say that it's not that bad and say you shouldn't make such a fuss, while 90% of the players say you grind yourself to death.

I really hope that the developers of TFD will change something, but that might be difficult under the watchful money-greedy eyes of Nexon...

I totally understand the people who say TFD is better than Warframe.
I also hope for these people that TFD doesn't come to a hasty end and that they continue to have fun. In some ways TFD does things better than Warframe, no question, but the way it feels right now in terms of progression, I just don't recommend it as a PERMANENT switch. Warframe just feels muuuuch better overall.

But still, it would be good if it got bigger so that warframe had a competitor. because we all know destiny isn't one. Destiny isn't even a competitor to TFD. It's a shame what Destiny has become tbh.

Warframe remains unchallenged in the F2P looter genre. Unfortunately. But not because I don't like Warframe, but because a competition could open up new ways.

But it was a refreshing experience. Even though i said that is not recommended as a permanent replacement, you should just try it for yourself.

Mostly agree, although I'd say it's closer to Destiny than Warframe. It does have a really useful built in loot farming tool which is better than either IME.

Don't regret putting in about the same amount of hours and I'll keep doing the daily stuff for the free battlepass items for a while, but I think it needs a bit of work before I'll regularly play after that. TBF it is very new.

Fortunately, the game Devs seem pretty great at addressing issues, so I'm quite hopeful. Roadmap looks good as well, but I don't trust Nexon not to want paying for expansions :P

Yeah, well the levels from 10 years ago have much more character then in TFD. Not even talking about the lab and zamarian which outclass TFD multiple times.

Then there are no tilesets. So you will run the same ♥♥♥♥ xxx times. The game is 60% the terrible bounty system in warframe. The bosses are just reskins. Tho warframe bosses are just puzzles, so they are very mid too.

But warframe is a mess of content islands, and is sheer unplayable without a wiki. Well which game isn´t after 10 years?

I like the more grounded gameplay in TFD, but damn the world design feels like AI.

And why you don´t get anything in defense mission (besides 1 drop and some credits) makes them feel really terrible. In warframe you will always get something to give the illusion you did not completely waste you time.

And the operator etc. feel like they ran out of ideas, so they feel very out of place.

If I'm tired of Warframe, I'd want to play a different genre entirely, not start over in the exact same genre doing more or less the same thing, so TFD has nothing substantial to offer me to even bother glancing in its direction. It's just another entry in an oversaturated market of copycats.

problem is that PvP ist the only genre that brings me fun. but you need a break sometimes. warframe is the only pve game that gave me fun. and i thought TFD plays the same but nope.

Path of exile is the best f2p looter by a long way. Just be careful though as a fellow fps only gamer, if you give poe enough time, you will be lost for thousands of hours.

The difference would be too small for me. Mentally, physically, I need to shift gears entirely to different experience to truly avert burn out. Quick reflex based aiming and shooting is the same to me, be it FPS, third person action, or whatever.

TFD hasn't been out long so the difference may only be superficial and based on the novelty of a new thing. The real test of time comes with going at it over and over for whatever they want you to grind for. That said, if it truly helps you shift gears, then great. You don't have to go as far as others might.

Thanks for the input and feedback. I am sure it will be helpful for the community who would like to try both games.

100 hours?! I got about 15 hours in, knew EXACTLY what the game was doing and left forever lmao. And as for "gameplay is action-packed"... No, it isn't, it's tediously slow and incredibly boring. But if you think it's fun, more power to you.
Where warframe has robust movement with bullet jumping, wall running and sliding, in TFD you get slow sprint and a janky grappling hook... Nifty.

It was mildly refreshing, I say that because it refreshed my appreciation for Warframe's fair and non-restrictive monetization, simple grind and varied game play modes.

Yes. Fair input from the person that got literally banned from First Descendant's Community Hub.

Yes. I'm sure Steam support bans people for a joke about closing a program.

Another user was also banned for the exact same thing because it's just the "kewl" way to tell someone to end their own life.

I'm more surprised it was only for a day. Fairly lenient.
