Are Bows Bad?

So my first gun in Warframe that I really modded and tricked out was the Gorgon. I have been trying out the Evensong Bow and it feels like it does less dps. Both weapons have potatoes and a bunch of forma on them. Should I keep trying to make the bow work or am I wasting my time?

I mean, some people enjoy being Nurgle with Saryn, some people enjoy being pyros with Ember, some people enjoy being That Speedster with Gauss, and some people enjoy playing Super Mario Brothers in Warframe using Wukong.

If you're playing solo, using a bow is pretty fun.

In group missions though, everyone's going to try to reduce every enemy to vapor as fast as possible, and bows aren't really compatible with that.

most bows just don't work well with speeding around the map which is what most of the gameplay ends up being

that being said some are still very good

Bows can be useful as stealth weapons and medium range single target sniping but tend to be overshadowed in many cases by faster handling weapons and those with more ammo to play with. Compared to many launcher style weapons they also can suffer when not considering targeted damage but for the standard groups of enemies that might not matter as much.

Some bows are pretty nice in this game imo, for example: Paris Prime and Dread (with incarnons), also Kuva Bramma, Nataruk, Rakta Cernos, some of them can be built around pretty fun builds :)

The Bramma still holds up. It's just not as optimal after the nerfs.

I recommend the Dread Incarnon these days.

Bramma still is a good red crit AOE bow. The munition size suck arshe though..

You can do fine with every weapon including bows and snipers. Both bows and snipers struggle with crowds as they're generally single target only, low magazine, and general lack of AoE on most. Which means your DPS in general is lower compared to other guns. Bows that have Incarnon forms like Dread or AoE like Bramma can do fine in most situations. Bows like Daikyu can melt single targets but because of how it works you can get swarmed pretty easily especially on Steel Path.

For your question if you should keep trying to make the bow work: Depends if you like using the weapon. If you do, use it. Doesn't matter if it's not the best or a bit weaker than other choices.

Amalgam Serration(forma)-Split Chamber(forma)-Rime Rounds-Cryo Rounds(forma)-Ammo Drum(forma)-
Hellfire(forma)-Infected Clip(forma)-Stormbringer(forma)-Speed Trigger.

That seems to be the most damage I can fit on it. If I am doing something wrong let me know. Thanks for any advice/help.

Do the new war quest, it gives you access to one of the most, if not actually THE most, powerfull bows in the game.

First thing you should do is get the Galvanized mods if you don't have them yet.

If I were to suggest a build for Evensong it would be this:
Galvanized Chamber / Galvanized Aptitude / Point Strike / Vital Sense
Rime Rounds / Malignant Force / Thermite Rounds / Hammer Shot

Exilus: Vigilante Supplies (For the 5% chance to upgrade a hit to the next crit tier.

For the Arcane I would suggest Primary Deadhead or Longbow Sharpshot. I prefer Deadhead for the 30% bonus to headshots. You could replace the 60/60 element mods with the stronger 90% versions but that's a personal preference thing. I like the extra status chance the 60/60 mods give. Especially on weapons like Evensong where the status chance can get bloated to a high number.
