Favorite early-to-midgame primary weapons?

Since we have a bunch of new folk here, let's get some top five lists. Rules for this are: No Tenet, Kuva, or Incarnon weapons (or weapons with Incarnon adapters for the pedants here). Let's just get a list of good early to mid-game weapons you had fun with.

Here are mine (not in order of preference, just in order I remember them in)

1. Vermisplicer Kitgun (Primary)
This thing is like the Amperex, in that it chains to enemies and can be built for crit (which I strongly suggest), but it does physical damage base. There are many fun build possibilities here.

2. Tombfinger Kitgun (Primary)
This thing is almost too much fun. It's a heavy-hitting single fire gun, but you can charge up a shot (which costs no extra ammo, btw) for extra damage and an AoE. You can definitely build it for crit, and you definitely should IMO.

3. Corinth (Prime)
I love this shotgun. As a youtuber put it several years ago, "when you fire it, it sounds like the noise makes when a lion stubs his toe." It's primary fire does a monstrous amount of damage, and feels great to fire. The under-barrel airburst grenade is nice, though a bit annoying to use due to having to detonate it before it hits to do best damage. Apart from that, it's very much a favorite.

4. Zenith
This is a login award gun, but well worth the wait to get. Primary fire mode is a status-based rapid fire AR with a 1 second reload speed. Secondary fire lets you SEE ENEMIES THROUGH WALLS AND SHOOT THEM at very high crit rate. The downside is that you have to build for both crit and status both, but the good side is that you can do crit and status both. It's great, and especially useful for Eidolon hunting.

5. Probiscus Cernos
This weapon really should be a warcrime to use. However, under the Geneva Suggestion that Warframe operates under, this weapon is perfectly legal. It's a status-based bow instead of crit, but don't let that fool you. It pulls in all enemies in a large radius and does horrible things to them before letting them go. Useful, and funny!

Right now I am having a ton of fun with the Zarr. Modding for Crit and multi shot to wipe rooms in mere seconds.

Ignis Wrath was what carried me through to clearing the whole star chart.
I was lucky and got an early 60% Kuva Nukor which still carries me to this day at rank 40 and a weapon buff Saryn build.

Edit: Before my Ignis Wrath and the Kuva Nukor, I was using a Soma Prime and a Lex Prime which was doing work.

Quanta vandal, Zarr, Twin kohmak, Supra vandal, and astilla were all fun to me.

I found the original flux rifle (with riven), telos boltor, and prisma gorgon all fun and used them a bunch before incarnons or lich versions were a thing. So its really looking over a ton of my fun to not be able to include those.

I mostly just used Grineer weapons like the Gorgon Wraith and Vaykor Marelok for a decent amount of time but there are a fair amount of better early weapons these days. Kitguns and Zaws are solid for example if you can brave the grind of the Plains and Fortuna and are vastly better than those two in most respects.

how about Xoris? throw and explode, or just get melee influence as well to unlock when you are completely done whisper in the wall. I know it not primary but still it can be used or even better than most of primary out there.

I thought it was pretty solid if you like throwing melee! I used throwing melee on a few of my warframe default loadouts. Mostly the Ash ones but they have good flexibility from normal fights and are excellent in more stealthy affairs.

Ignis Wraith and Tonkor. Easy to mod for mid-late game and you can get both pretty easily. I found Xoris to be absurdly good as well with little work needed. Boltor and Braton are solid mentions.

To the OP, you mentioned early-mid game weapons but you have 2 kitguns (pretty late game and a slog), a more annoying to get prime, an annoying grind to build bow, and a long login reward gun. By the time people have some of those, they would normally be able to do high level missions with a few issues :D

Yeah... I'll fully admit it's been a few moons since I was last in early game, and I therefore may not be relating to the early game experience I'm trying to help. :)

Nonetheless, the parts required for the Tombfinger can be all gained in Fortuna - if not right away, then at least relatively early.

As for the Zenith, the earliest one can get it is on the day 100 login reward, which I'll also concede is not really early. Nonetheless, it definitely changed the game for me when I got it, and made me wish I'd gotten it earlier.

I won't even try to defend the Probiscus Cernos' build requirements - it takes like a week. Worth it, though.

definitely the soma, the sobek and for melee definitely xoris for how powerful it was at that point in the game
