Mostly you grind for resources early on. Maps are festooned with them. You use them to construct new frames and weapons. Most weapons, at least, you just buy the blueprint off the market for normal credits instead of having to traipse off and farm for. Your real combat potential comes from your mod collection, and mods and the endo the powers them up are found everywhere.
Newer frames have "RNG forgiveness" resources that you get alongside trying to grind for them, that you can exchange for parts of the frame you didn't get.
Finally you can try building up the premium currency by trading with players, if that's your thing.
protea
these are just two frames off the top of my head I can think of that took me 8 hours or more.
Both frames I havent fed to the helminth, and prolly never will.
Grendel between trying to solo it and fail the missions. I eventually was able to solo it but each mission was literally an hour...
Or just do some money making content(that involves trading) and buy the stuff you want like every sane person would
Though getting the upgraded version of things(primes) is a lot easier in some cases
For instance, planning with the Duviri Circuit to get frames while focus farming other frames outside those that aren't available. And in cases of Primed frames, focus farming specific relics and selling valuable parts at the market (not in game trade chat) to get plats. Some of the older frames with vaulted relics can be bought through just farming newer parts.
When farming, try to achieve two or more things at a time.
I tried tfd and i wasnt impressed : hold W to next checkpoint, kill a bunch of flavourless ennemies that appear around you, rinse and repeat. the weapons are like all the same and you simply drop the same weapons over and over, just this one is one rank higher of whatnot so it does a little more DPS => zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
in warframe you can grind warframes but also weapons (and a bunch of extra stuff like companions or vehicules), each weapon has its own playstyle, you have real melee weapons and melee gameplay. It's far bigger than tfd because it's much older. also for farming warfames blueprints (equivalent to farming character parts in tfd) you have different ways and pity systems (for example you play a mission for a chance to drop blueprints like tfd, but in addition to the chance of directly dropping blueprints you also get a specific pity ressource that you can spend to buy the missing blueprints, so if you fail to drop all needed blueprints after a few tries, you can buy the missing one with the pity ressource).
There is also a specific gamemode which allow you to unlock one warframe per week (that you choose among 3) without any rng at all. So you can bypass grinds that you don't like by simply getting the corresponding warframe that way on weeks when it's available.
Depends on what you farming
I remember one frame didnt dropped for me for YEARS until they added it to different game mode
Especialy older stuff in obscure missions no one ever plays unless they are farming that obscure frame which probably have prime variant you can buy for like dollar worth of platinum on market
YEah if you want everything this game have absurd long grind
have fun spend countless hour grind ultimate character in TFD or pay 100$, in warframe , you skip prime weapon / warframe grind by trading.
game has over 10 years update , of course it has sht tons of thing to grind.
You should have listened to your friend. You'll find that TFD is basically a Warframe knockoff with only a little bit different system.
Not to mention, people complain about the low drop rate of Gold prizes in Relic, they have a maximum dropping chance of 10% (minimum of 2% but the items for upgrading the drop rate basically gain from the same mission). While in TFD, you have 3% (or 6%) and you have to fight the boss to open them.
