You can Solo the content although best experience comes through Co-op with friends. I have played mostly with Public matchmaking for 10 years and bad experience has been very low. I recommend Endless missions (Survival, Defense, Interception) with a team because they may be painful or have a lot less loot. More players= More enemies which means more loot.
The game has a story which is mostly Solo but some early quests work with a team too. You have very little story until you reach Uranus. After that the Story gains momentum and fast.
PVP in Warframe is dead and basically a waste of time.
No. It seems like it, but it's a noob trap. Literally the only stuff in this game that can't be earned for free is Tennogen while playing on PC. Tennogen is a program of community-made 100% cosmetic items.
About that light yes*: Warframe limits the size of your inventory using the premium currency. With the self-imposed restriction of pure 100% singleplayer, trading with other players becomes impossible and thus the amount of platinum you can get is fixed to the 50 starter platinum, thus limiting the most you can have in your inventory. You can play this way but progression will be extremely slow, arduous, and handicapping. There are free ways to increase the size of your inventory, but they are not super common, usually requiring interacting with the free battlepass system as well as celebrating Warframe's anniversaries and Tennocon. You can sell old equipment to avoid, but having options available all at once is simply so much better.
IIRC from the demo, TFD uses the same system without any way to earn it for free. I could be wrong, it's been a while.
I assure you, all these have more or less been asked in the past, and I'm sure they'll be asked again. Don't worry about it.
