Man I am not good with Mesa.
I've been having a pretty good time so far still very new. The most fun frame so far is the hydro guy that shoots tentacles from the ground. I went from him to Mesa hearing she's very good and I can barely do a low level escort mission in the plains now. I just don't understand how she's so good unless those videos are referencing to an end game build. For beginners I have no CC with her. Defense missions are hard unless for the random niche situations where the pistol ability pays off but that drains all my energy.

Her armor is incredibly low, no CC, two of her abilities the 1 and 2 ability seem about useless especially playing solo. I just don't get this frame. She looks cool though. Just expected more from a "gunslinger" frame.

I guess I'll just bring her back out when I have better stuff to make her like that.

Not all frames are good for all occasions, she is a good frame and you will get to grips with how she plays but to expect to do well before that is a exercise in futility

no, just rank her up on some lower level stuff. Something you can enjoy
once you start to unlock the full potential, it will all work out

True - but... Mesa is really good at an awful lot... She can punish and dominate a lot. But you do need to work her up to it, and grind the right mods. But that is true of all warframes... well, maybe not all. a very few are not worth anything... which really sucks.

A lot of builds on the 'best' anything depend heavily on having the tools to make it possible. Not having the right mods, not having enough energy economy, a warframe is drastically different with an optimal build. Some warframes are just pointless without the necessary tech to prop them up, but they turn around and take that tech so far that they become very powerful.

I can understand that. It might be worth revisiting the warframe later though when you have mod options and forma upgrades to allow more energy effeciency and a good mix of power strength to allow for quick vaporizing of starchart level enemies. For Steel path, her average armor and shields can be a pain since those enemies are outside the standard scaling range of our warframes and weapons requiring more exploit-y or trick style play instead.

What is "steel path"?

'hard mode'/'new game plus'. It's unlocked once you complete the star map. It adds about 100 levels to every node as well as increased resistances. In exchange, you can be awarded special resources for powerful arcanes, as well as increased resource drops.

Plains Of Eidolon lack cover so you will be moving a lot and need tank or healer warframe, especially if you are playing Solo.

Mesa can work there but you need ways to heal yourself when situation demands it.

Equilibrium (Warframe)
Blood For Life (Warframe's Parazon)
Dreamer's Bond (Warframe Aura)

Medi-Ray (Robotic companions)
Sacrifice (Sentinel Companions)
Transfusion (Vasca Kavat companion)

Healing Return (Melee)
Life Strike (Melee)

Give Mesa more range so that her Shooting Gallery (2) can jam enemy weapons. Her Shattered Shield (3) gives 95% damage reduction with +30% Strength or 80% without any Strength mods. She really shines with Peacemakers because she gains more attack speed as long as you hold shooting button down and she doesn't care where the enemy is as long as they are visible on your screen.

On top of that I simply replaced my Mesa's 1st skill for the Banshee's Silence skill upon one of her loadouts (with the Helminth's helping 'hand', ofc). It's also a very useful to keep by when you're doing higher level content than around level 40 missions
