The most expensive free game I've ever seen.
I'm new to this game so if there's a way I'm missing to get the platinum I'll take my statement back but man this game is crazy expensive. 20 bucks buys you like 370 platinum which isn't even enough for a frame and ONE weapon. Is there another way to get any of these cool weapons and frames because everything halfway decent is locked behind real money.

Everything in the game can be unlocked through progression and many quests. Cosmetics and some packs may be platinum only, though through in-game trading, you can get yourself platinum for trading in-game goods with other players.

I'd recommend you have the warframe wiki or a guide on the side to aid you.

You do the same thing at level 1 than you do at max, grind. So don't buy pay unless your cool with it...

Well I would like to get different weapons but everything is behind real currency. The cool stuff anyways. It would cost close to 50 bucks or more for just a load out of weapons lol. Like wtf.

Play for like 20 hours completing the star chart and quests, you will get access to the grind for a decent amount of load outs, skipping the microtransations.

you can buy almost everything for real money but no gameplay affecting things are real money only. just because the blueprint for something isn't in the store also doesn't mean it doesn't have a blueprint. general rule the plat costs for weapons or warframes in the market are highway robbery. use plat to buy slots and then farm the gear yourself it's way easier and way cheaper.

So you're saying that the cool swords and stuff in the market I can get a blueprint from random chance by playing missions?

100% of usable equipment can be earned from playing the game, paying platinum is only a shortcut to getting them if you don't want to grind/wait for them. The only things locked behind real money is cosmetics. If you click on any equipment in the market, there is a button on its page that says blueprint, which will either let you buy the blueprint for credits, or tell you where to get the blueprint, such as by playing certain missions or completing certain quests.

Also, there is an active trading scene in the game that mainly trades in platinum, so if you want to spend platinum but don't want to pay for it, you can check what sells for a decent amount, farm some of it, and sell it for the platinum you want. The parts of new prime weapons and warframes and rare mods are examples of good platinum earners.

Lastly, you can get coupons for platinum purchases from the daily login rewards, so if you do want to buy platinum, never do it for base price. The coupons go from 20% off all the way to 75% off, so a lucky hit can turn that $20 370 plat pack into a $5 370 plat pack, or let your $20 get you $80 worth of platinum instead.

Not quite... You can buy a lot of blueprints for basic weapons in the market, but a lot of the really nice stuff is locked behind a quest drop or some kind of mission progression. The Wiki has a lot of information about what weapon is located. Some weapons are easier to acquire than others, and some may take you a LOT of grinding. Just note the MR level - you seem like you're recent enough to the game that you will want to make sure the weapon you get is one you can actually use.

as people have mentioned it's sometimes missions, sometimes buyable on the market, and in a lot of cases quests. joining a clan also lets you get blueprints for gear from the labs in the clan dojo, a lot of factions have weapon blueprints available in exchange for standing once you get access to them, and once you get access to void fissures you can farm parts for prime weapons and warframes which are superior variants of given frames and weapons. the literal only stuff that is ever paid only is entirely cosmetic everything else can be earned via gameplay.

Apart from cosmetics there is one thing that is *mostly* paid only: inventory slots. You can earn a few at a time through the COMPLETELY FREE battlepass called Nightwave or through various rare alerts or events, but the vast majority of the slots you will need will have to be purchased with platinum. This is the NUMBER ONE reason why I tell new players to spend their plat on slots and nothing but slots until they are significantly more comfortable with the game. If you really hate the starter frame, or really want to try out a newer frame you can't farm for yet, it's not wrong to buy it for plat but that is a personal choice.

Checkout the "warframe.market" website which is 100% free and is the way the vast majority of players interact with, list, and search for items to sell. The fastest and easiest way to get "into" the trading game is to open relics whenever you can and try to build up sets of prime weapons and frames to sell. (I suggest selling the duplicates and keeping the 1st copy for yourself)

QoL detail: your foundry has infinite storage for crafted BUT UNCLAIMED items. Craft as much as you can as fast as you can and then just LEAVE it in the foundry until you have enough inventory space to claim it. Lastly, there are a number of weapons that require OTHER weapons as crafting ingredients, so before you go selling old weapons you've mastered (reached level 30 with them to earn all their "mastery experience"), check the wiki to see if you need it to build something else.

just saying, there is a chance that daily log in will give you Platinum discount, use that 70 dollar plat you spend well, buy weapon /warframe slot / reactor / catalyst or something, or trade prime frame with player when you had enough MR, remember to use Warframe market to trade.

once you learn how the game mechanics works, you can start farm prime parts to earn plat , or Riven.

Yeah, the frames and weapons showing up with their plat price in your equipment screen is one of the worst things in the new player experience, i heard quite a few stories of people quiting the game just by seeing that, a few return later after learning how it actually works, but i'm sure a lot of people never came back thinking this is the most p2w game ever.

DE should change that sometime in the future, if they ever revisit the new player experience again (let's face it, it needs some improvements), they should definitely take a look at that.
