Also, as far as doing less damage goes, they have special mechanics to protect them. I know status effects cap out lower on them, but they also might have damage attenuation as well.
Having 1000+ armor means nothing if the damage type can break through your armor.
If they are too fast, infuse Gloom and slow them down, easier to observe their pattern, always a sure win for me, if they don't nerf Gloom in the next update.
Well, that or remember which acolytes do what and check what the name is when they announce themselves. The portrait that shows up does tell you which acolyte is coming, so you know that if it's, for example, Malice, that they're going to have the mag bubble, and Violence will shut down your warframe abilities and try to lift you and kill you in melee. Those are usually the only two I worry about since they can potentially do something that will stop me from being able to just kill them quickly.
The visual cue is a little subdued, which makes it especially hard to see with SP's increased spawns. My tactic for that is to kill the acolyte and go into operator mode before it pops.
Also, Acolytes can be one shotted BUT they have damage attenuation, so unless you can do huge damage with unruly weapons to kill them easily, faster damage gets attenuated less.
The real cheat is to give a On Call crew (primary +100%, combat 5) a good weapon since their shots aren't affected by them and just summon once the Acolyte starts its intro and they'll shred them so fast, you'll be left in awe.
