The game encourage coop play, solo is doable.
A lot of people want to speed run everything so for someone like me that likes to explore everything solo play suits me better and thankfully like KitKat said "All content can be done fully solo".
fwiw there are going to be some difficult hurdles along the way , ie it is difficult to solo some defense missions early on without min/max builds and deeper game knowledge , but you could simply run those missions as pubs and you'd be able to sail thru the starchart missions
Or just save the higher level content until you have the skills and equipment to deal with them.
You don't have to do a mad dash for Steel Path as soon as you get past Vor's Prize.
Are attitudes like this why I've seen so many people expecting to be carried through end-game content lately?
2000 hours to do what ?? Solo steel path
You probably need more help than the Op then
It's like watching a movie alone vs watching it on fast forward with a group of drunk buddies.
Though I'd also recommend playing some parts with randos just to speed things up a bit, not mandatory but more relaxed and efficient.
Just wanted to comment with my 1200+ hours and then saw your epic numbers. Please humbly excuse my presence my lord :D
