The game modes haven't really changed much, they are still captures, defenses, spy missions, exterminations, etc... What is kinda new are the mirror defense missions (but you won't be surprised, let's say they are defenses in two different places, but not at the same time) and Alchemy Missions in which you have to provide certain materials (like elemental orbs) that enemies drop into a machine and later is very similar to those Railjack missions where you have to hack a terminal and then blow up the vents, keeping the temperature in range.
As a vet I think it's not worth it once you realise waiting 5 months for an update that'll last 1 week max without try harding it is just boring. All of that just because the stuff you got 3 years ago is still way over the top as of today.
That's why I stopped personally, and I still love the game, like it's cool to play it, I like having multiple warframes, multiples weapons to choose from, but the new content doesn't last very long and you quickly realise that the things devs are adding are just for new/ medium term players. The game isn't rewarding for vets and I think that it'll never be, just because of the "nerf nothing and just release completely broken stuff every year that'll obliterate any effort of creating something meaningful" mentality.
So yeah, I got bored and it saddens me, but it is what it is.
In the end just try it again to see if it suits you, you'll make your own choices based on what you experienced. But I guarantee you that you'll have the same feeling, nothing has changed about the game these past 6 years. It's the same casual third person shooter with little coop element in it. You did not miss a lot of things, outside of the story, the game is still the same.
