It's because they keep putting out content to play.
Such a forgiving and cohesive system further incentivizes us to stick around for the next update since this game doesn't feel anywhere near close to as predatory compared to other more mainline free to play games that utilize fear of missing out tactics.
Destiny, Marvels Avengers, Apex etc having battlepasses you have to pay for while WarFrame's is free and refreshes every 8 months or so. The game is great, its just the horrid new player experience and lacking UI that holds it back. If more infortmation was readily available in-game and not via the wiki, this game would be flourishing right now.
Thanks for some base info. Any PVP in this?
This game shines for its pve co-op content.
they let you out of your cage again?
I think the specific answer to your question is that the above factors work really well in terms of retention. There are many things to pull people in to play it, there aren't many issues that other games tend to have like steep monetization that push them away, and it mitigates burnout relatively well. Then, because there's just a constant stream of content in various directions, it doesn't get too stale or at least brings back the people for whom it got boring
Damn He got me,I've spent many a late night/early morning coming home from my nightshift gig to smoke a blunt and socialize in region chat for more time than I want to admit XD. There's a itch to be scratched with grinding to go 1-shot a new boss and then theres an itch to just muck about and find new friends in region chat
The movement, the progression/upgrade systems are completely different and of course there's a mountain of new content. The game reinvents itself every few years.
If the game kept to traditional franchise model we could easily be on Warframe 3 by now. And a popular franchise staying popular would not surprise anyone.
It's also pretty unique. Nothing else around really plays like Warframe. You can get tired of Warframe and quit but you're not gonna move to a better version because that simply doesn't exist.
1. Once you start getting into the star chart and wanting more weapons/ frames, you may look at the equip menu and say 'wow all these cost plat this is kinda bs' which was my own first thought. Took me halfway through the star chart using the basic bow to realize, you dont need to spend plat, you pick something hit purchase and it gives you the option to spend credits for a blueprint. Collect the stuff put it in the foundry to bake and collect stuff for the next item while waiting. And if you ever need creds just hit the index on neptune easy 100k
2. Spend your starting plat on slots for weapons and frames. Don't be an impatient dummy like i was and spend it to speed something up in the foundry.
3. Modding your gear is important, and its usually fairly straight forward. 10% cold resist when few if any enemies you've ever encountered do cold dmg or 90% more hp/armor/shields? Should i increase the slash dmg of a weapon that only does fire dmg? Got a weapon with 200 mag size and 4 second reload, use +90% mag size or drop the reload time to less than a second? And if you're just not sure then look up an endgame build on youtube for that wep or frame, see what other people are doing.
Also don't forget to rank up your mods, i dont think the tutorial ever shows you how to do it. Just go to the wep or frame, upgrades, slot in the mods you want, then hit mods at the bottom from there it shows what you got equipped you just click the mod and hit the option on the left to upgrade it.
4. Mastery rank. Lot of stuff is locked behind it, and you get it by ranking up new weapons and frames, always rank up to max level before you delete something just for the MR.
5. Lot of people say dont spend your potatos on bad gear. Why upgrade your Kohm when the Kuva Kohm exists. Potatos being the blue and gold catalysts which double the mod capacity of a weapon or frame. They're decently rare so you got good reason not to throw them around. But to that i say, how are you gonna get that Kuva kohm if you cant kill level 50 enemies because you haven't eaten your first couple potatos? Ya cant. So don't feel bad about spending your first stuff on suboptimal weapons.
6. Join a clan and make friends. I don't really need to explain that one.
Game basically uses 'nodes' that are mostly copy paste missions then the quests are those same 'nodes' or introduce openworld areas, completely new node sets and heavily scripted single player story content. The games biggest issues are opaque design and bugs.
I would say its at worst worth playing a bit if you like games with grinding. I didnt for a while but I spent time grinding in Kingdom Hearts games and Mount and blade and now like grinding if the actual gameplay/combat system is good.
