Becareful when trading with a friend
Hope my experience can help whoever wants to help a friend out by giving them free stuff or platinum.

This just happened to my friend and I ,

My friend just joined warframe and got a 50% discount coupon, he decided to use it to buy platinum from STEAM before it expires.

My friend decided to help me out and traded me the platinum as he was new to the game and did not need to use it at the moment.
I traded him a Wukong Prime set as he wanted it to start off his journey in warframe.

As a result both of us got banned [due to large platinum transaction],
I received a "negative balance" and am required to make another purchase to balance it out.
- I made another purchase and was able to log back into the game

My friend got a 12 years ban .
- Appeal was not successful as they claim that he is a "well-known platinum re-seller"
[even though my friend just joined the game a few days ago and it was his FIRST purchase through STEAM and his FIRST time trading]

In conclusion ,
Think twice before helping a friend out , you may get both of you banned !

If you do get banned , you can go to support.warframe.com to appeal and the customer support will get back in a few hours. [based on my experience]

If DE has proof that he's a well known platinum seller, what is the point of this post?

I think the question is whether or not they actually have proof. Too bad DE is the only ones who get to see it.

I know for a fact my friend just joined warframe and that he bought the platinum through STEAM [transaction id and payment history was submitted as evidence].
So i am sure DE doesn't care if its legitimate or not.
just here to share and hopefully others don't get into the same situation when they decide to trade with a friend.

Not surprised at all by their response to your friend. I've only ever heard negative things about WF support.

What are we supposed to do about it? Also, why should we take you or your friend at your word?

DE does flag suspicious trade transactions. So if a completely new account transfers something like 1k plat in exchange for something with general market value of 80 plat (Wukong Prime). Then that might very well get you flagged.

Anyway, the general advice here would be don't trade large sums of plat for "free". The system doesn't really have a way to tell whether it's a friendly gift or suspicious transfer.

If you want to give gifts then trade actual parts only or use the gifting system the game has. Don't trade around free plat.

Also this part:
"My friend decided to help me out and traded me the platinum as he was new to the game and did not need to use it at the moment."

... is rather suspicious. Who the hell "holds" plat for someone else and why? If you want something your friend could just buy it and gift or trade it to you.

Back in the day my clanmates and i used to split 75% coupons... everyone donated a bit and the one person with the coupon just bought the biggest pack to share the plat... never got banned for that.

BUT in your story there's something i just dont understand

why do you have to act as a middle man for trading...
and WHY do you have to hold the plat in the first place..
sounds fishy to me

Honestly that is textbook plat reselling and I wouldn't be surprised if that could get you banned.

That said there are likely other factors about accounts involved themselves. Plus it was more of a wild west back in the day. But these days I wouldn't attempt doing that. And definitely not involving a new account.

Clearly your friend didn't buy the plat from Steam. End of story.

He wasn't, "2035" is a placeholder for permaban.

On the topic itself, yes platinum reselling is a bannable offense. Sorry it happened to you but the rules are for everybody.

New account trade a large amount of premium currency is suspicious as hell. Doesn't matter which game you play. And DE is very strict on these reselling rules they have.
