2. Sony like their exclusives. You pick a 'main account', so when merging you would be taking the PS account as your main account when merging. I think all platform exclusives will only available when playing on that platform, I'm not sure.
3. A weird one, not sure why they did this.
4. Tennogen being limited was so people couldn't just buy all the Tennogen with platinum. On PC you pay with money, and a portion of that goes to the creator. If PC players could start buying Tennogen with plat, then many could just clear out the entire Tennogen stock without buying a single thing with their own money.
The reason it was on 24th was to prevent people doing this in anticipation with a console account, stocking up on platinum and buying Tennogen (easy to trade yourself your own plat from PC to console if you have enough Credits).
5. Account Link and Merge are different things. Link will make you pick a main profile, and you can link it to your console ID (such as PSN or Xbox Gamertag) and thereby if you install on consoles you can just pick up your main profile anywhere. It's intended for people without profiles on consoles.
Merge has you choose a main platform, then combine it with your profile from another console and create a 'master profile' that has your stuff from both all merged into one. Intended for people that have played on at least two platforms.
The reason you can't merge an account that was migrated is because the migrated account is a copy. Even if, post migration, they had separate progress, you originally copied your existing progress from PC to console.
e.g. Let's say I had an MR25 account and had migrated to PS4, I had 2000p, 10,000,000 Credits, loads of resources and a variety of gear.
Let's assume I played only on PS4 from then, and now we come to this date and I want to merge accounts - I could claim back all the stuff from the PC account, essentially obtaining 2000p for free and all of my pre-existing resources which I had earlier copied.
Platform-exclusive items such as the Xbox Jade items, Nintendo Switch Opal items, Amethyst Skins from Discord will NOT transfer to PlayStation during the One-Time Account Merge. In addition, PC exclusives such as the Phased Skins, Rubedo Skins, IAHGames Braton Skin and Rixty MOL skin will not be available on PlayStation.
Conversely, the PlayStation-exclusive Obsidian Skins will NOT be available to use on platforms other than PlayStation.
they only list playstation as the limitation to exclusives, and they arent saying its an example
Plat is handled differently on all Platforms and i thought they would simply UNIFY that for all platforms, so the Account Link can fluidly use cosmetics and other Plat-related Stuff on all linked Platforms, but no: Still Plat Discounts with Nintendo Points, still Tennogen for Plat to lure in Players, still weird Coupon Events... Business Models!
Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and whoever publishes this here*, didnt come together to create a unified system. They just built the Cross Save around these Obstacles, because any change could mean slightly lower numbers.
Thats horrible and shows how thoughtless and lazy the Industry does such things as a whole. A unified Plat and Tennogen System on all Platforms with the same prices and the same discounts would enable us to move cosmetics and else around on all linked Accounts.
a horrible and very sad picture! People who decide such things are really well paid for it and highly studied. The consequences for the Player of simply changing nothing are absolutely clear to such employees. Still it is decided this way, because it is easiest and most lazy way and changes nothing in the Business Models!
Its definately possibly to unify all the platinum systems, etc to make all the skins function properly on all platforms but the amount of time it would take for virtually no content would anger more in the community than drip gate, atleast thats my prediction
honestly the weirdest one is the exclusive skins not being allowed on other platforms, like limit it to be purchased on their platforms but allow people to use it else where would make sense, but that isnt how they are doing it
as for tennogen the creators still get paid regardless of the platform, would it be so bad make the PC tennogen be purchased with plat? like are creators paid less or something on console?
i mean i have 250 platinum and 200 more in the mail wittout reclaiming, those gonna merge or should i buy a warframe before merginG?
Then there is also the problem of plat not having a set price thanks to discounts. Lets say f.e. 500 plat cost 5$, a pack with 1500 plat costs 12.99$. How would you now calculate the $ price (and in turn the creators share) of a Tennogen item that is bought with 800 plat?
So yeah, its makes sense that Tennogen wont transfer over. Even in the best case scenario it would be a big drop in the creator earnings.
I could merge an account they outlined as only available to link.
I have skins from xbox that I can use on playstation and PC
I have playstation stuff that I can use on PC and I haven't been back on xbox but assume its there also.
Its been a great merge but I can't speak on the founders items cause I don't have any.
I did notice the X in the xbox skin for my ship is not visible on playstation but thats really the only thing I can find out of place so far.
