Are arcanes required

You can farm them in railjack orphix nodes... But I don't know if I'd call that a "better" means.

You can farm the Eidolon Arcanes through Railjack Orphix missions however this is significantly slower. Warframe Arcanes aren't required for SP but can improve and give some extra flexibility in your builds. Molt Augmented which you get from The Zariman is fairly easy to get though time consuming. The weapon arcanes that drop from Acolytes are very much worth using in most cases.

Eidolons are the best way for arcanes, when i played orphix i didnt get anything good and it requires significantly more time than doing a tridolon so dont bother with it, instead what you can do is farm something you like for example corrupted mods and then sell them for plat and buy the arcanes you want with plat

you don't NEED arcanes, i got pretty far through the steel path without them. but they will make it easier

You don't need them and there are some really good ones that you can get from other sources, like Molt Augmented from Zariman or Arcane Reaper from Duviri.

Or just farm platinum instead and buy some from the market. Arcane Guardian is good for making you tanky and you can get it maxed for 200 plat on warframe.market. That's pretty easy to get.

They are helpful. You don't 'need' any of them in particular, but they can certainly help with many different playstyles or builds. Eidolons don't have to be all consuming, and in fact there are other types of warframe arcanes you could use instead but it is a good option to consider. If Eidolon fights right now are just a pain, consider hitting them again later after putting together different loadouts or trying different strategies on them. Necramechs aren't a perfect replacement for a high radiation sniper against Eidolons but it can help particularly if your favored warframe isn't packing enough durability yet.

Generally, just do your best and either from grinding or trading; you will get the 21 or so you need for a complete set of each option. For lower rank good options on Eidolons, consider the arcanes that negate magnetism or other frustrating statuses. They are generally lower rarities and can be surprisingly helpful on mid level or higher fights, particularly as DE tries to spam statuses to overwhelm warframe defenses or disrupt abilities.

Sell prime stuff for plat and buy them Eidolons are a chore and players will judge you if you dare play in multiplayer without copy pasted build.

Zariman has a bunch of very useful arcanes you can buy for your warframe. Steel path gives you arcanes for weapons.

you dont need any arcanes, if you plan to stay in the normal star chart or just want to do the standard Unlock of Steel Path for the handful of XP and the neat Statues.

If you wanna leave the old Star Chart though, to fight eternally in 100% more Resources and 100% more Mods, then it is time to kill the Eidolons... all of them!

Arcanes aren't required, however they do really help. For example, I currently have an arcane that picking up health orbs increases my frames overall health, so it means I can forgo something like Vitality, for a mod that would provide a better bonus to my stats, while also providing another revive as it's currently a rank 4 arcane. Rank 3 is when an extra revive is unlocked, so you can get 6 total per mission, if you have two rank 3 arcanes.
