If you're far enough along to get one of the augment mods, Iron Clad Charge can pair well with this. Charge into a crowd of guys and fire off Iron Skin afterwards for a titanic boost to the total health of Iron Skin (the bonus from ICC is based on ability strength and number of enemies hit).
The rest of your build can effectively be whatever you want. That should be good enough for most things and you might have room left over to include more armor anyway.
Just for Brainstorming: There is a Mod called Iron Shrapnel. It will enable you to refresh Iron Skin by exploding all of his Overguard on the surrounding Enemies. It is so useful, i would skip a Duration- or Range Mod for that. With some Energy Management, i would completely skip Duration for such QoL Syndicate Mods.... Range is useful though, especially in Teams!
With Iron Shrapnel you are literally immortal... until his energy runs out.
This sounds pretty useful. I'll have to finish grinding up Meridian. I meant to get his augments months ago but the prime part I needed for the last rank was annoying and I switched to Grendel for a while.
I was thinking of sacrificing range if anything since I play solo and prefer melee and shotguns and his low energy makes duration valuable for Roar.
His Stomp, his Roar (only in Multiplayer), even his Charge will be a bit shorter. Augments will be heavily affected too.
But this is up to you, never let other People decide your Builds. In any case get the key from Cephalon Simaris, so you have access to the Simulacrum, to test Rhino there on insane Enemy Levels. You can change Mods inside the Simulacrum... even during Combat!
If you just want to have more survivability and kill everything with weapons, Roar can be treated as a non-issue. Some might call it a "mindless" build, but it's straightforward and gets the job done. I played my Rhino this way for years until Inaros came along.
If you want to be more versatile and team supportive, Roar can be pretty valuable for both you and your teammates.
But that's the thing. Until you're far enough along and can get all kinds of upgrades to supplement this or that stat, with mods alone, you're likely gonna have to sacrifice one area to empower another and it's generally hard to go wrong with simply "tank and shoot."
This is what I'm gathering from here and from looking on Overframe. On all my other frames I've gone for a more balanced build and I'm able to get a lot of mileage out of them but Rhino's low energy (even with Primed Flow) and lack of directly offensive abilities is throwing me for a loop.
I want to make him a decent tank but at the same time I don't want to gimp his other abilities too much because I use all four of his abilities.
subsume chroma and set your energy to blue for more armor and squad buffing
stack umbral mods for more armor and strength
project the overguard value so high you forget what the point of rhino was
If I ever get another Umbra Forma I plan on using it on either Rhino Prime or Grendel Prime since they benefit from all three of them.
