Yup, imprints are your best shot. Without them, it's all luck based. Even imprints don't guarantee it, I believe.

Imprints are genetic copies of kubrows, obtained by, well using one on a Kubrow you have. You can trade for them and use them when making an egg.

Each Kubrow can make two imprints. When hatching an egg you need two imprints. Imprints increase the chance of the "child" having the traits of the "parent". Theres testing going on in the warframe wiki about exaclty what gets passed on, so far coat markings and colors are confirmed to be influenced by this, and its believed that type is as well. So if you got 2 Huras imprints from somebody and hatched an egg using them then in theory you should have a much better chance (if not 100%) of getting a Huras.
