Kubrodon Hunting
I finally found a Brindle Kubrodon, stealthed in the sky to it, and shot it with the tranq rifle. I saw the 0s fly off it, and knew I hit it at least 6 times. No effect. It ran away, dug into the ground, and disappeared when I got close thinking it just glitched or something to not show me the unconscious animal marker.

How do you actually catch these?

Kubrodons (and Stovers) need two doses in quick succession otherwise they will shrug off the tranquilizer entirely and flee.

It sounds like you may have missed the window since landing six shots would take far longer than they need to shrug it off but we can never rule out the possibility of bugged behavior. If it's a consistent problem then yeah something is wrong and all I can say right now is a very unhelpful 'works on my machine' as I tackled the nightwave conservation challenge this morning with no problems.

That is actually helpful, thanks. I was worried it was something else like the drop-down guys in Deimos caves.

Ivara's sleep arrows will 1shot every animal without having to hit their weak spot.
