in your orbiter, (if you have gotten to that point) There is a codex on the left of the ramp after you go up. Go to the Quest tab and see what Quest you have available for the story.

Don't worry, I have 2k hours in this game and I'm still lost.

Haven't touched the game in a couple months now but anyways here goes.

The two long-term goals are completing the Star Chart (mission selection screen), and quests that you'll find in the Codex (either using the main menu while in your ship or the console on the left of your Orbiter cockpit).

As enemies slowly gain in level, you will want to do the same. That's where the modding system comes in. Everything in your inventory has a level ranging from 0 to 30 (you don't need to know about the exceptions yet so I'll pretend they don't exist). Increasing your gear level does not directly increases its stats (except for Warframes) but instead increases mod capacity.
Finding good mods and upgrading them to their maximum potential is the key to power. This costs a lot of Credits, and Endo. Endo can be acquired directly as a drop from enemies, from Maroo's weekly quest on Mars, and by dissolving other mods you have too many of.
i.e. it's never a bad idea to sink some resources into upgrading the level of Redirection, which will boost your Warframe shields by up to +440% of their base value at max rank.
Even getting Redirection up to half its rank will still provide a considerable shield boost so you can tank more damage.

Oh yeah i forgot, for some reason the game tries to make you play Saya's Vigil quest really early on, as soon as you unlock the Plains of Eidolon, but don't do it right away, that quests is way too hard for beginners, classic DE oversight.

The game is really really content-heavy so don't be scared of checking the wiki for more details about points you want to know more about, it's virtually impossible for anyone to explain the whole game in just one setting.

Everything Emauligu said. Early on you mostly want to be playing nodes on the star chart that you have not done before, opening up new areas of the system. The junctions to new planets especially, as clearing them gives you various rewards that are useful. There are various quests that get unlocked by opening the junctions as well -- play them for more rewards and to unlock more options in your orbiter, get new warframes, etc.

Find a warframe or two that you enjoy playing, and work on improving it. This will require getting mods and improving them with endo, as Emauligu said. Once you find some that fit your play style, you can think about applying forma to them to reset the level and allow for even more mod capacity. This allows you to get stronger and handle tougher missions.

The game pushes you to go both deep (leveling and applying forma and leveling again) for power) and broad (leveling lots of different weapons and warframes) to gain mastery rank. Mastery rank is leveling up your player, essentially, and you have to pass a rank test at each level. The early ones are not too difficult, but they test different aspects of playing the game so different people will find different tests easy or hard. I had huge trouble with the first stealth test, for example, but one of my friends breezed through it with no problems and wondered what the big deal was.

There are a ton of different things to do in the game, and a lot of them are completely optional. Invasion misssions, nightmare missions, open world bounties, railjack, syndicates, and much more -- try them as see if you enjoy them. If not, you can mostly just ignore them (although some give rewards that can not be found elsewhere).

Good luck, and have fun!

*facepalm* Completely forgot to talk about Mastery Rank, silly me.
You earn mastery XP by levelling each item to maximum rank once (crafting additional copies will not do anything).
You will want to increase your Mastery Rank as it progressively unlocks more guns for you to use, giving you better options.

You should also look up the Nightwave weekly missions, though you may not be able to complete much of them at first, it's the best source of Orokin Catalysts/Reactors (dubbed "potatoes" in the community) to apply on your favorite Warframes and gun to double their total mod capacity.

On that I will also add that if you found a Warframe you really like playing, you can get a heardstart and look at the Relic system to try to earn the Prime version, which has slightly augmented stats and looks cooler.
Either way, selling the stuff you find in Relics to other players will net you some Platinum, the premium currency, which you can then spend on warframe/weapon inventory slots, which are regrettably limited.
Foundry hold list however isn't, and take it from a veteran, I remember holding over 70 crafted weapons in my Foundry (basically raided the market/dojo and bought everything at once) only to level them up one by one and sell the bad ones afterwards. Fun times XD
WindsorW May 4, 2023 @ 5:30am
Good to know I am not the only one that does that with the foundry. LOL.

It's free real estate.

You can't chain quests, they all have different prerequisites and are usually unlocked as a "reward" from completing planet junctions, so you'll need to clear out more of the Star Chart in order to gain access to them.
Junctions themselves also having prerequisites, plus the fact that enemy level going up means that they're going to to mincemeat you if you don't equip accordingly.

okay honestly farming for resources and understanding where some resources are located is such a pain. i think currently i'm stuck trying to unlock one bit of my star chart to get a particular resource to level up something(i forgot what) but i think that's where the problem is cause i was focusing on levelling up something rather than unlocking my star chart from now i'll put more focus on to it
