Melee combat and warframes taken away.
I don't understand the thought behind taking away the power you have accumulated over the years. Playing as a basic frame with boltor is probably the least amount of fun you can have, so why. Not even to mention how absolutely dreadful the drifter melee combat is in duviri. Yikes... Just yikes.

its a story back when you got nothing... basically you are reliving the past and how you came to be.. etc etc

I think it's going to get worse. Devs can't figure out how to make new challenges for overpowered weapons/frame/helminth combos, so they just force you to play as a drifter that gets staggered every melee hit and dies after one b1tch slap.
Very cool "le elden ring" combat lmao. DE made me spend 1k plat on new weapons because no way I'm going to farm them.

I know and it doesn't excuse it. Come up with a better reason so you can actually use the power you got.

If the combat was even 10% of how elden ring plays, then it wouldn't be as bad. But the way the game plays right now just makes it unbearable. Going between the drifter to basic frame using basic boring weapons... I don't think i've been so bored playing this game in all of my hours. Such a shame this is what we got after years of anticipation.

It does excuse it. The story is literally about when you had nothing, before you acquired the power you have. Why would you have the power you accumulated over a long time before you even started the journey? Why should the drifter be able to teleport around, teleport into a pink rhino, stop every enemy to death then equip a Kuva-Bramma to obliterate the Orowyrm?

In fact, the Drifter isn't even the operator, why would they have all our over-powered stuff any way? DE should have forced us to use only the default warframes and default weapons with their choice of mods to make the experience more authentic.

the simple fact that the devs actually made the choice to force RNG on builds shows how pretentious and ignorant they are

This is a paradox timeline - what the drifter was doing before we meet them during the new war quest... So, yes you are starting from fresh again. But you dont loose any normal progress made.

Plus, you can rank up unused items that you've never used before. So, it is a win-win in the long run

You just said it yourself, it's a time paradox. If they had the writing skills they could make it work, but they clearly don't. And no, i didn't play the game for 2.7k hours to have my power taken away and force already brain dead gameplay into coma level gameplay.

I think the RNG Gameplay is something refreshing especially if you have put effort into a lot of frames and not just one. It forces you out of your comfort zone, which is good. However sometimes I do wanna have a more chill run and being able to play the frame you have the most fun with would be nice in these moments. Maybe they should add in the ability to overwrite one of the random frames and or weapons with one of your choice in exchange for something. I would say maybe 50 Pathos Clamp since you earn them from the Orowyrm and this way you couldnt do this everytime , therefore you would have to go the rng route still most of the times, but every couple of times you could have it your way, which would be nice and refreshing.

someone got spoiled...yikes.
Drifter melee may be rough in spots, and sometimes klunky, but it's a lot more immersive, relaxing and imo FUN than normal warframe melee.
And I am saying this as a long time warframe player.

It's only an excuse and doesn't make it a good thing for the game. Especially after the quest is over. This is the latest iteration of a pattern of them doing this. Why bother acquiring Warframes and weapons at all if it's never going to matter? Why should we care about playing as the Drifter (or Railjack, Archwing, Necramech, Operator, ect) when the pattern suggests they'll be rendered pointless as well?

I think a better solution is instead of making us start over again and again in a vain attempt to challenge us (which doesn't work. There's always a bunch of people whining how nothing is challenging no matter what) is to go back to all these half-baked ideas and really buckle down on refining and improving them. They have potential, they just have to be realized instead of letting a bunch of bored, childish elitists prompt them to chase one fad after another.

bruh, it's the same melee we had for years, but just more jank
ShatteredPumpkin May 2, 2023 @ 4:05pm
oh no can you not nuke enemies here oh how sad :CryingGhost:
I dunno, I'm a founder and I think this is some of the best fun the game has had added in years. Something actually fresh and different rather than just single pressing your way through everything.

Being forced to use other gear and do things differently is the bees knees

Additionally, being stripped of power was expected, it was clearly stated this was for new players as a point of entry to the game, pretty easy to deal with

Eh, Duviri kinda grew on me.
Considering after leveling specific drifter intrinsic and collecting decrees made my drifter a melee demon in Steel Path.

Sure it's rough start. It just build up toward easier melee com at when you figure out how decrees work and doing some easy side missions to get those few first decrees.
