Generally you left the program from a hub call an orbiter which is your spaceship.
Ive run into same issue previously.
In your current sitation:
1st) You'll have to press "Esc" and "Abort the current mission";
2nd) Once you get back to your Orbiter, after loosing all that previous mission progress and related loot (apart the XP into the WarFrame and weapons used), then you'll have to press "Esc" once again;
3rd) After being inside you Orbiter and that "Esc" is pressed the below of them all option should be "Exit the game".
A tad annoying I know at 1st glance
I didn't have an option to abort a mission. I basically had two options: Resume and Options.
Had to force quite the application.
Since I've started playing WarFrame (WF) several years ago, I completely forgot that you needed to finish the 1st mission(s) in order to get to your Orbiter and from that point onwards you'll be able to forfeit any mission and then proceed to exit the game afterwards as I've already pointed out above.
To be frank, I don't recall the initial missions being annoying or boring enough to the point of not even completing them. But then again, I'm not the usual sort of players and quitting isn't exactly my strongest asset. Only after giving a few test runs to make my opinion I've decided to keep playing WF, tbh.
Everybody's different and to each his/her own preferences, but at least (if it was me, ofc) I'd finish the 1st missions to see how it'd evolve onwards.

Yeah, I wasn't disinterested in the game. I was done gaming for the night, but decided to make a character and check it out real quick.Unfortunately, it was simply too late for me to keep playing, and it wasn't clear how much longer I'd have to play to arrive at a good stopping point.
I intend to pick up from where I left off soon.
