In fact he is wrong:
Duviri paradox is a horrible experience for new players
Veterans
and old players.
Throw in tons of incoherent cutscenes about some sort of overcomplicated looking plot , making the player pick 4 different weapons before they can do anything, and a whole bunch of random systems, who needs 'gameplay'.
as for explaining the job of modding to a new player at this point of the game, would be equal to a sisyphus penance - not only because of the huge amount of possibilities to do so but also because they simply lack even the most simple ones at this point. my guess is that DE quit to bother to ever explaining those (any many other aspects of the game) to new players... then again, and since it's a game meant for people over 16y old (at least where i'm from) one could expect the new players are adult enough to such things out themself - i certainly did and the few things not, i found easy enough at 3rd party sources. as an introduction into the game it's not worse than the old one but it's far better looking and enjoyable (imo, if i put myself into a new players position). for veterans though it's ofc, not much more than a repition of very much everything - only with a better wrapping ^^)
some things like the flying horse-thing are actual fun, even though not very good to use compared to AWs or even mechs - but still fun. the operator melee is ok and should have been available from the start but wtf... i can live with it anyway even though without modding such a weapon it's pretty useless in steel-path difficulty where certain amps and focus schools still can melt enemies at high levels.
bugs are present but far less than i expected (so far at least) and as for any new contend - mission wise or armament, i have to test more but don't think there will be any ground breaking new stuff to discover - for that, the game has, imo, used up almost everything possible and only a totally new game (and likely engine too) might be able to push it further - especially with the player base who seem to mostly hating every change DE done in the past years to the game.
Here's feedback from a founder who's Legendary 2:
I had no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue what was happening. How did we end up in here? I clicked the quest and "okay you've been here a while, break free or some ♥♥♥♥".
I'm a massive lore nerd and about half of the things that happened in the Duviri Paradox are just unexplained "looks cool in the moment" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
More Drifter acting like angsty, annoying, edgelord prick in cutscenes that just make me feel like that's not me; might as well take away customization options and make it DE's character at this point.
OP is right. The melee combat for the drifter feels floaty and like nothing I'm doing is affecting anything. I'm surprised when enemies fall over in melee because I can't see their health bar; it's offscreen. Enemies don't stagger like warframe melee, so it feels like I'm just slapping them around with a wet noodle.
The rewards are also laughable.
This game has been stuck in a never ending echo chamber of a fanatical fanbase that I once was a part of and I failed to see what was happening. Only after some time will you realise the devs at DE have no inspiration/ambition anymore.
It's always the same boring grind except it gets worse each time. And I know what you're thinking now: "It was always like that", "If you don't like the grind, don't play Warframe"
No it was never like this. Before you had to grind but it was actually FUN to last as long as possible in a void key to get as much profit out of it as possible making use of your arsenal to get there. Not only that but all the materials you received would usually be useable in some way or another even when a new update came out. Now every new update you start from zero with some kind of "reputation" or something to fill out to get your blueprints and then the resources you have to painfully grind for in monotonous and boring non-warframe like activities. (e.g. Fishing, mining etc. Who actually likes this ♥♥♥♥ in a game like this?)
I used to play this game for months on end but ever since they started doing open worlds I feel they have lost track of what they want this game to be.
I wish they would have just went with more frequent updates to the likes of operations or story quests instead of these big overpromises that eventually barely anyone plays anymore besides the people that are now almost brainwashed into liking it because they have a sunk-cost fallacy with this game.
For the first time in years I uninstalled warframe last year and I feel no incentive to reinstall. I am however still interested in this game but by the looks of things it's the same old.
I give this game 5 years at most before people get tired of the current formula and finally start to 'wake up'.
