Is pyrana good?

I mostly avoid playing secondary weapons but this weapon is now on prime gaming with skin and i took it. I didn't even knew it was existed tbh but is it good to keep or just free weapon slot for me?

Personally - I feel like it can be kept due to how you can scale it with Multi-Shot mods to make it a bit silly (got mine in the 20s for multi-shot currently and still leveling it). That helps with the raw damage and somewhat with Status Procs, but it's got a low inherent status chance which is kinda "meh".

But toss on a reload speed mod or two, and aim for more raw damage and it can be good for clearing out groups of lower level (like lvl30-40s so far is what I am fighting with it), and I feel like it may be good into the 60s range, but anything like 80+ may see it shine a lot less depending on mods.

prime version has an awesome ability after headshot killing an enemie which gives you a second pyrana prime for a few seconds on your other hand which gives a massive dps boost

its basically the same gun just primed has less* forma requirements

Prime version will spawn a 2nd (offhand) pyrana prime when you headshot. Prime 100% has more DPS once you proc that.

The Pyrana Prime is popular because the gimmick is fun. Other than that, it isn't really that great. Then again, there aren't really that many great secondaries available.
