It sucks hard, get that Synthesis Scanner and the widgets to increase speed and Double scans
And a Resource booster if you can
But yeah it sucks x.x
Got two doubles and the rest were only single scans, mind you they were 1 code per run with at least two runs in between giving nothing. I mean 1 in 10 scans, so its about 10%
But if you insist on scanning them, try Steel Path mode, they spawns more and less likely to die before you reach them.
Need to scan a lot.
Hold the kavat down with your warframe, scan it (chance for double scans from widget), then kill them with the charged ballistica prime, which creates a phantom/clone of it as an ally. Scan that too (chance for double scans again due to widget).
Every kavat you find becomes up to 4 potential genetic codes.
edit: Also, if you haven't done Sands of Inaros yet, use the above method on that, because it has a mission that spawns like 12 kavats.
My best and practically sole spot to have gotten my 2 Smeeta Kavats genetic codes sampled from while using a stealth WarFrame was by doing the Inaros quest that you can obtain from purchasing it from Baro since it's always an option that he sells when dropping by any Tenno Relay it randonly picks every 2 weeks or so.
I've gotten my Adarza Kavat by simply mixing up the genetic codes for both my Smeetas, if I'm recalling it right because it has been years since I've had a Kavat as a companion.
And I also gotten my Vasca Kavat by surviving my 1st night upon the Plains of Eidolon with my 1st Ivara and scanning those whenever they came around trying to get hits at my Eidolon Baits. Also having a maxed out Operator's Amp helps a lot to finish off those wraith Vombalists once I've kiled their pysical forms the 1st time with my Daikyu bow rigged to do Radiation elemental damage (although I had a Hush'ed Lanka by those days it still wasn't Forma'ted to suit my playing style).
And remember that this was a loong time ago, way before getting better equipment or doing The New War quest (which also grants you the nasty Nataruk bow better suited to deal with Sentients[/i].
Tbh, nowadays I prefer to have a Sahasa Kubrow beside me with its Dig precept mod because it alone can pretty much catter to my WarFrame's (WF) energy and ammo' needs provided it has a quiet spot to dig from.
