What is key is to gather a large group of enemies before throwing the canister. If you cannot hit enough then you're going to take too long and will fail. Plenty of frames can help you do this. First wait for the spawns. Lure them together and then use a skill to pull them closer together, throw the canister and kill them quickly. It'll take some practice, just take your time. It's fine if you fail a practice run. That's what they are there for.
Rhino, Loki and Excalibur are not good frames for this, although it's probably possible to use them and succeed. I would suggest using another frame.
Those 2 are the initial ones that come to mind, although I recall that Octavia had a luring ball skill amongst her natural skill set, which can also help you gathering those around for the Cannisters, but truth to be honest I never was much of an Octavia player because it seemed too brainless to use for my particular tastes (even if despite being quite effective on many sorts of missions).
it was so buggy for me. if i use any ability while carrying the cannister, it simply disappear.
if i pick the cannister with operator, it disappear.
if i throw the cannister in Vauban Vortex or Mag Bubble, it phases through it & disappear.
i ended up using Rhino Prime to finish it. just spawn, cast Iron Skin, use operator to travel to cannister, switch to frame & pick it up, jump in the middle of enemies & wait, throw cannister at 4 or 3 second (cause it will despawn when time runs out even if it already mid air) & kill till next cannister spawn & repeat.
i used Ignis W, Nukor & Nikana. also make sure to pop up some ammo Restore.
did 2 test run before trying it to get used to it and it worked.
If you have been using the training mode and running this test more than one time a day, and have tried everything (including using video guides, numerous frames including Vauban/Nidus/Octavia/anything with AoEs, numerous weapons), and still have not made progress, I would almost argue "what's the point of beating it?"
Maybe try adjusting your DPI/adjusting your camera speed or something as it sounds possible that you maybe are not locking into targets and killing them fast enough? I am atrocious at FPS games as I usually take a little longer to lock in, so I just started setting my DPI a little higher to close the gap. Otherwise, just like when that doesn't help me at Halo or Quake, skill issue is really the only other thing I can think of unfortunately.
then i watched a video where a wukong seemed to do it effortlessly. i spent 3 days practicing, then attempting a real run when i pass a practice.
i passed by using celestial twin, i used melee so the twin was forced to use a radiation element gun. starting to move befor the next canister appears seems critical, and wukong's cloud form speeds up getting to the canisters.
i ended up completing the test just before the last canister became active.
The first couple times I did it, I kept picking up the canisters to quick. During the start you should just basically be kiting the enemies trying to build them up. If you do the initial build up, and keep kiting and maximizing the time between canisters, its doable. Pretty sure I just used octavia and ignis wraith. So I could kill them quickly once they were marked.
