Is it a bad idea to switch from Nezha to Hildryn?

I've been playing as Nezha Prime since I got him and am currently building Hildryn Prime. I'm just getting a bit bored with him and would like to switch something up. All I end up doing with him is not die and spam his wonky chakram when my weapons stop hurting enemies.

I haven't completed Second Dream or War Within, so I don't even really have the mods or weapons I need to really make Nezha pop, so sometimes I feel like a load once enemies get beyond level 30.

Hildryn also looks more fun to mess with cosmetically.

Warframe is not a game where having only one "main" frame makes a lot of sense. Both Hildryn and Nezha are great frames to have in your arsenal.

Nezha has a damage multiplier, status immunity, and halo. augments let him give the halo to allies. Nezha is a general purpose tank who can defend himself and his team better than almost any other frame. (along with Revenant or Oberon)
Hildryn can strip armor, purge status of allies in an aoe, and her 4 is better CC than Nezha's and also makes enemies hemorrhage energy orbs. She's also one of 2 frames that can ignore energy costs on subsumed abilities or the abilities of the Railjack (Lavos being the other) which makes her unique in that respect.

I play every frame I own. you should also play and enjoy every frame you make, otherwise why even build them outside of mastery

Hildryn is the meta method to run level 30 missions with no mods other than blazing pillage e.g. for farming grendel.

Great platform for arcanes != energize and focus schools != zenurik. With strong mods she is viable for any corpus, grineer, or corrupted content. Just watch out for running out of shields since that makes you a sitting duck.

Unless you are creating utube content about how you can do anything with the worst frames and mk-1 weapons use the appropriate frames for mission types. On that theme I would not use a weakly modded Hildryn for Infested missions -- for that Nezha works much better.

As a frame of reference (ha ha... pun not intended), my most used frame is Khora who sits at roughly 12% of my total playtime as of the last time I checked. I know what nearly every frame in my arsenal can do and what roles/functions they can be swapped out for.

Eso nuke? Mirage, Saryn, Volt
Energy Support? Harrow, Hildryn, Trinity
Protective frame? Nezha with safeguard, Gara, low range Limbo, Frost, Khora
Speed frame? Volt, Titania, Wukong, Gauss
Weapon platform? Chroma, Mirage, dispensary Wisp (universal ammo works on heavy guns too), Sonar Banshee

Just get her, if it's a prime then it's a no brain decision. If it's a warframe slot situation then either buy a new slot, wait for a reward or sell a non prime.

Well, you're not getting rid of your Nezha, right? Try out all the frames, play what works for you. Go back to Nezha when you feel like playing him again.

well if you gonna sell nezha, then go for hildryn i guess. You get MR rank exp for leveling up new frames or weapons.

if you haven't unlocked the helminth system, then i suggest holding on to all your normal frames until you have unlocked the helminth system.

Unless you're really low on warframe slots I would suggest that you keep both, or at the very least try out hildryn for a bit to see if you like how she plays before getting rid of Nezha.

You'll probably end up maining her just because she can be that good, but you aren't expected to main anything and can go back to Nezha anytime

adding hildryn to your arsenal is not a bad idea. properly built she is a force of nature and incredibly hard to kill frame. her playstyle though, compared to nezha, is a lot more ability spam than the relatively low buttonpress nezha can work with.

other people have said it already, warframe ultimately is less "be this frame" and more "have these frames" and use them all in their own preferred situations.

eventually, as your collection grows, you'll find yourself picking a frame for a certain purpose, outside of the moment when you just wanna play whats fun to you at the time.

my advice would be : yes, get yourself hildryn goin, and treat her as another tool in your overall arsenal

I just know a guy who does Steel Path and his usual reaction to me asking about other frames is "What, Nezha is getting too easy for you?" or "Just go Nezha". Kind of has gotten me into this mindset of "I'm making a mistake playing or building other frames".

this is a case of someone who has "optimized the fun" out of the game. Nezha is a great all-rounder frame, but there are plenty of others that are worth playing. Some are just fun, and others will outclass Nezha in specific roles.
