From my experience they fly towards their objectives, they aim to crewships and even circle the mission goals for a while.
Now why that doesn't happen is beyond me but I think it has something to do with what's going on in the mission as well as pathfinder for it.
As for the crewships, they always aim when they enter a certain range of it, outside of it they won't aim at all, same with the archwing slingshot.
I don't think they do since the reactor thing needs to be with the main gun and that can only be accessed by the player.
But also... I have an idea why AI pilots may stop working: It may have something to do with their pathfinder (As said above) because I recall in certain missions they will stop moving entirely because there's some debry field ahead of them and they will only start moving when the player is outside the railjack at a decent enough range.
Other times even with that they can't navigate because the pathfinder is too "confused" on how to reach the player or advance so you will need to pilot it for a while before letting go and allow the pilot to fly it again. In these circumstance it usually happens around spawn.
That said, perhaps the best way to fix is would be for DE to maybe clean the railjack missions "territory" a bit to avoid these problems?
As for dealing with objectives, in general they handle them well but occasionally with Grinner Hangars they seem to get a bit lost... but when most opposition is gone they seem to organize themselves more easily. As for Corpus Volatile missions, occasionally they palce themselves in the right angle but on the opposite direction (meaning you have a wall in the way). Meaning they can see the target THROUGH the object.
In this regard, although in my experience it works well 90% of the times, I would say DE could give position queues for the AI Pilot rather than rely on them getting there through pathfinder when the target to be destroyed is exposed
Huh. Smarter than I gave the AI credit for. I usually do the piloting myself and then park the ship somewhere safe when I have to head out. I rely on the AI to shoot and repair, but I figured if I trusted them to fly, they'd be eating missiles all day.
