Trials have their own problems, no debate there. However, I'd like to assume we can look back on that and see what went wrong. Improving from there.
The biggest issue I find is that if we're all gonna find ways to cheese the game into oblivion, DE has to do one of two things to counter that:
1) Remove said abilities or weaken them. Forcing the player with a decree saying "Do something else, moron."
2) Inflate the stats and design the mission so that these powers are otherwise pointless or just outright required. (Which is very polarizing and VERY unadvised. I could find myself hating these missions VERY quickly.)
At a certain point, players WILL get so good that they say "I want to do better, I want more to fight" and when that need isn't met in any capacity? Especially when players make their own challenges?
Players lose interest. Fast. Grind is a constant, but only if it's reward is worthwhile.
The issue I find with it is that at a certain point? It becomes less of an "accomplishment" and more of a "Yeah, this strategy can go on forever" sort of thing.
Take Khora for instance. Just slap a Strangle dome at the end of a corridor and have enemies siphon into that. Than just any AoE weapon to shoot them out of sight.
I don't consider killing Lemmings to be an achievement. I consider it to be mindless slaughter at best.
Precisely why I find Level Cap Steel Path to be a pointless achievement. If you've killed Level 500 Enemies by disabling their AI, the only difference at Level Cap is just how much bullets they take.
Disable Armor/Shields and forget they exist. Easy peasy.
However, enemies like Wolf of Saturn Six? He was THREATENING and I loved it!
I don't want "stronger enemies", I want enemies of note to have lasting power. I don't care for Void Angels because they're essentially slaughtered in seconds.
Wolf of Saturn Six made you THINK, with negative Headshot modifiers, immunity to both Status AND Warframe Abilities while being able to throw out powerful attacks? Especially because he could show up anywhere at anytime?
You couldn't anticipate him, so you had to be ready! That made him notable!
(That and his minions had some KILLER napalm)
He was memorable because he was the first enemy I fought that felt like a proper boss. He took time, dedication and would ABSOLUTELY kick your ass if you weren't careful.
That and I'm fairly certain Shield-Gating wasn't a thing yet.
But I bet you don't even have a 94% Sham
I thoroughly enjoyed fighting him. Hell I would even try to melee him while always being on the move.
I felt like I had to just to not get knocked around.
But honestly that nightwave revealed something rather ugly about the community. Everyone wanted a challenge, even the vets... but then many of the people who wanted this sort of challenge complained that he kept appearing when "they didn't have the best weapons for it" or because they could only fight him by camping on top of a box or something... something that got harder when he started appearing with his three allies everytime (that were alson invulnerable for as long as the Wolf was active).
And funny enough, these were vets that bragged about being able to do endless missions in the void prior the conversion of keys to relics... meanwhile, here I am deliberately taking the Paris Prime and the Nikana for when the Wolf pops up so I can fight him.
The point of this comment? Some of the people who ask for challenges, also want to feel very powerful when doing it and are too dependant on specific weapons to get the job done.
You think you have better reflex than others? Smarter? Faster? Deserve a "special treatment"? Own more stuffs? "Completed" all content?
If you truly understand the concept of "Eternalism" in the Zariman classroom, here's what DE trying to tell us:
"We are but a small scrub in a tiny little thread of infinite-possibilities universe."
But if you want to relieve your stress by doing some textwalling here, It's fine.
DE won't give a shet tho.
And it will keep happening so long as they keep feeling "powerful" with whatever is meta currently.
They want power for the sheer sake of power.
To those people? To those people who think a genuine challenge, in all of it's descriptors isn't enough? I say this:
"You're not worthy of your guns, you disgrace."
There are many that are, but how many enemies have even came close to the power of the Tenno?
You know what I wanna see?
I wanna see a player fight a room of 4 Tenno Specters. One that isn't afraid to bullet jump all over the place and make sure you're gonna experience HELL fighting it.
Just completely MAXED out mods and gear for some Level 300 Tenno Specters.
Because I can assure you, there's a reason we want challenge. The answer is quite evident if you summon one.
Yes, that's how the "Multiverse" works.
And...?
I mean... it's not exactly unheard of to get.
Slots by themselves are 3112 Platinum. (282 Weapon Slots, 59 Warframe Slots, 40 Companion Slots)
I got enough Deluxe Bundles to hit 6165 in Platinum spent on those.
Voidshell Bundles grant another 725
Bruntspar Necramech gives another 120
Syandanas can push me up to another 760 Platinum.
730 from Weapon Cosmetics/Skins.
Animation Sets add another 500 Platinum.
225 can come from 3 Color Palettes from the Market.
Another 1130 from Armor Sets.
Shawzins bump that up by another 220.
I got 2 Domestik Drones for another 200.
And I'm not even gonna bother counting all the platinum I have in decor. That would take an arduous process.
So all that combined for a total of 19327 Platinum from someone is generally considered a "very lazy trader".
If I set my mind to it? I can easily make that tenfold.
Trading REALLY isn't difficult. Especially with Warframe Market[warframe.market].
I can see people having 200k plat easily.
EDIT: Though, in hindset... I probably missed a TON of things.
I got hundreds of mods like Medi-Ray, Coaction Drift and more that people buy all the damn time. So it's really just a proof of concept though.
Considering I have no idea who you're referring from that descriptor, I can't say I have.
Feel free to elaborate though.
Considering I would have zero reason to do, why would I have noticed her?
Essentially, fighting an enemy that fights like a player would with gear similar to what a player would have.
It's actually not a bad idea, specially if it's a dynamic enemy. Meaning it's gear can change from time to time so it doesn't feel similar every time.
I mean, there's a reason I don't play Conclave... well, two but y'know:
1) Internet and ping. I can't shoot things if the part I'm supposed to shoot is 3m away from where it's visible.
2) A lotta strats in that are just broken. Though, Veterans have access to more power mods isn't exactly a fun time either.
... Though, I do know that everytime the enemy clones a version of me- even WITHOUT the power of bullet jumps and parkour- they are a FORCE to be reckoned with.
Seriously, have a Level 190 Amalgam Heqet clone you in the Simulacrum.
That thing hurts.
I should give it a shot then just to have an idea then. Thanks for the experiment idea.
UPDATE: Okay just tried it with my Voruna. She and her loadout have a mix of Umbra, Archon, Primed and Nightmare mods on with 4 tauforges and one regular (got really lucky these past weeks).
I waited to be cloned by that enemy and... although she didn't target me directly first and went for my pet... she downed me with Ulfrun's AoE (didn't helmint, kind of like it). Couldn't even react on time, was too busy trying to find it.
UPDATE 2: Removed the pet, went down faster. This time I just waited to see how strong she was.
