Selling in trade chat
People in trade chat are very toxic when I try to sell for a higher price than the wf market price. Just feels like people think that wf market fixes the price. Trade chat is an open market. I am currently trying to sell a carrier prime set PMO. A guy comes and asks for my offer. I say 270 because that is my starting price that can be lowered. He says he only offers 50pl because he wants a discount from the market. Says i wasted his time and ignores me. I am not in this game for too long so i am curious if i should continue trying to sell high. I heard people making a prime warframe set into 30 sets in a few days and selling some sets for like 600p. Is trying to find someone willing to pay more than the price on a third party website a waste of time and am I dumb for trying to sell high? Enlighten me.

1) you can sell at high prices - you will spend hours on trade chat trying to haggle and nickle and dime to get those extra 5-10% plat.

2) you can sell at average prices - you will sell stuff near instantly and you will be able to move on and spend time farming other stuff that you can sell.

I do not really support selling stuff overpriced, there is no reason behind thinking your own farming is more valuable and with such attitude you are doing your self harm by wasting time on trade chat without selling anything.

It takes 2-3 minutes to do a vault run, 1/3 mods there are good for the market, that means less than 10 minutes on average to get a good mod you can quick sell for 20p.
Is it worth spending half an hour on trade chat trying to nickle and dime it for 30 plat?
Not the exact price but you get the point.

It just makes no sense to me, I'd rather play. And this is coming from someone who is heavy on trading, full riven inventory, inventory full of vaulted stuff, god knows how many arcanes, bunch of expensive mods, everything - I just hop on trade chat and sell by average prices and in 30 minutes I earn 300-1500 platinum and I move on to play the game and pile up more ♥♥♥♥ in my inventory.
I probably could have gotten 500-2000 from those - but I would not sell those things in 30 minutes, I would waste 5 days to maybe get someone and waste time haggling....

It is way more profitable to farm stuff than to haggle per in-game time, just math things.

If you try to sell high you have to account for people that use warframe.market. It's their usual go-to website to see if the price offered isn't too high for the item they wanna buy. Sure you can sell a maxed Blind Rage for over 300 plat in the trade chat, but don't expect people to gather up like moths to the flame. It's a matter of finding this one person in a thousand.

Thats the thing. The trade sites do exist and as such many people will set their expectations accordingly.

Trade chat is exactly that a negotiation. Thing is again people who rarely use it or are just lookimg for that one quick piece will probably use a trade site as a guide on what to expect.

Lastly you just get people who are plain nasty everywhere. So its notnuncommon to get responses like this. Especially since it can be an effective barganing startegy.

Just sell stuff at the Warframe Market price. You'll get an instant transaction and can move on to selling more stuff instead of waiting around for someone to buy it at an artificially inflated price.

There are many types of people and cultures are very different when it comes to bartering.

There are countries where bartering is the norm and is sort of a mini-game, the pros barter with honor.

While in other countries bartering is seen as an attempt to rip people off and people do not want to "play games" in order to get what they want.. they just want a fair price so they can get on with their lives.

Personally I don't want to have to barter with people... it screams "I'm ripping you off normally and you have to work for a discount for me to feel you deserve it"

Just remember people come in all types and some people will look at you this way even if you barter normally in everyday life and accept it as normal.

Yes, players will buy, have patience, my warframe prime sets and weapons are sold at 50 pl times the number of parts, so all warframes are sold at 200, every now and then i sell a set, even if the market says it's 30 for the cheapest set.
I have over 30k platinum, so i'm not in a hurry to get more, i usually end up waiting months, but hey, some players like a price tag on things and good conduct.

If someone starts to lecture you, just ignore them and move on, doon't get glued to those traders emotions, everything you do, regardless of what it is will always impact other players, some are simply vocal when upset, don't be like them.

if someone offered me a carrier prime for 250+ id call it a scammer and just report it, youre not just a lil bit above the price, youre selling it for like 5x more than what its worth, and no, warframe.market doesnt fix prices, it reflect the avarage price people willing to pay for it, its following the prices on trade chat, if its 50 plat on the trade chat, its going to be 50 on wf market, not the opposite

Stop being greedy and maybe people will be nicer?
i wasnt greedy. I went for a very high price because i didnt know the price and saw people go way above the market price. I was kind and offered a lot less. an average price but he was the greedy one trying to make me sell something for an absurdly low price to profit off me. i just didnt know because i am not too familiar to the trade chat. and that guy just tried to use me because i am a low mr

Seriously though... you see him as toxic but yourself as "just trying something"... get real

In the end who is the one running to the forums to complain about it?

I absolutely agree with this ^^ dayum i hate seeing people peddling things at 5x the market price

If you're selling something for considerably more than it can be bought elsewhere then you're ripping people off. Put yourself in the buyers position.
