1: Dont let people tell you itt sucks if it works, they are likley just looking for validation of their own build
2: Vigor does not suck, its actually a great mod
3: paper dps is very different from real dps
4: Dont build just for power strength, leave out that extra overextend if you dont have a redirection/vitality or vigor on
5: the "drift" mods are great in genral, people hate it for some unkown reason though
6: Try to match aura mods with your warframe's mod slot polarity, it will give a TON more mod space
7: Dont max out corrupted mods, they are best left half way
8: it is good to have at least four arsenals, one made to fight corpus, one for grineer, one for infested, and one for orokin/corrupted
9: for weapons, proc damage also adds to the weapons base damage
10: heres a list of enemy weaknesses and strengths to help you

1- The only reason Excalibad is relevant later on in the game is blinding and we all know it
2- Vigor is trash until somebody reaches the 400 day milestone and gets the primed verison
3- You're right, real DPS is better because of modifiers on health, shields, and armor
4- Fair point
5- Literally just cunning and power. I guess you can consider speed drift useful for atlas in JV but that's it
6- And get bashed on because he's using ♥♥♥♥ charge?
7- Literally makes no sense, only corrupted mod that should be left in half is blind rage at rank 5 for nova and bless
8- Lmao
9- Fair point
Crow Control - Duration, Range and Efficiency mods are most beneficial for this build.
''Turret''/Exalted Blade - Power and Efficiency. Duration and range can be minimum or even negative (less than 100%). It can also be used to spam Radial Javelin (RJ build) since skill cost is very minimal.
Both builds require Corrupted and Syndicate mods so they aren't something you can build early in game so you shouldn't bother with them for now.
Having said that most important mods for a new player with Excalibur will be: Vitality, Redirection, Steel Fiber, Stretch, Streamline, Continuity, Flow and Intensify for pretty basic build. Sadly only first four will be common in early game and other four with require some low level Excavations & Void runs before getting them.
As for weapons you should try upgrading main damage mods and elemental damage mods. You should avoid adding critical/status chance or critical damage mods and better go for pure damage since it is not worth going for specific weapon build so early on. Also use whatever weapon you enjoy since there are no strict guidelines for which weapon is best for Excalibur or any other warframe.
1: well, ive seen some radial javelins and exalted blades go through sorties fairly well, but in genral, thats the frame, not the build
2: Vigors good if your frames not squishy as hell and you want to squeeze in that extra bit of power
6: Yeah, but the boost will allow for higher ranking mods
7: what about overextend for a chroma? ok at half, but terrible for it at maxed, it depends on the combination of frames
STOP! In the name of the C R I N G E police!
