Codex & synthesis scanners
Hello again friends,
Let me ask you some questions about scanning with the synthesis scanner:

1. If I scan with my synthesis scanner targets I don't have the codex information on, does it add them to the codex? Maybe the color of the enemy has something to do with it (When I use the synthesis scanners, the enemies are either green or red, I never figured out why)?

2. If I use Helios and equip only synthesis scanners, does he use them as well? (I figured he uses them, but the question is if it adds me points).

3. I didn't clear "The new stange" quest yet, so I am willing to ask. After I finish that, Do every mission have a chance to spawn a "traget" (those special enemies that scanning them gives more points)?

Thanks a lot for helping!

the synthesis scanner have the exact same behavior like the codex scanners, so
1.yes
2.yes it works with helios and the new hammer (forgot the name)... BUT dosent yield points
3.you'll only find a target when you have a target^^ but not in every mission and they give much more points... around 3k

Additional info, Heliocor and Helios scan won't give you Simaris reputation point.

1. regarding the colors. Orange enemies : codex entry not complete. Green enemies : entry complete. The synthesis scanner can scan enemies even if the entry is complete (the normal scanner can't)

3. After the New Strange Quest you can go see simaris once a day and he will give you a number of target to synthetize. After that you need to go to any mission that may have the normal unit that you are hunting and one target should spawn (if you have your simaris scanner equipped)

I could swear the Helios can use the synthesis scanners instead of the regular ones and give you reputation, or automatically scan Simaris targets for it. I could be wrong, but from what I remember this one of these things are possible.

no, i think he is right here - i tried with helios long ago and also recently with the new hammer. both did not yield points to me as far as i could see (i used my synthesis scanner on some kavats though and therefor can't be totaly sure about the helicor).
in addition to the OP: if you want to get your daily rep-limit with simaris filled up fast, buy those 3 widgets for the scanner (at the sanctuary shop) and sneak (invisible or otherwise skilled) through a mission (spy is always good for that) and just scan every enemy while they are unaware of you. all your scanner charges will regenerate (no more buying the stuff), you can get double the points worth out of scans every so often and the third widget let you scan quite fast too. equipt with that, you can get your daily limit in one mission - especially in those higher level sorties (i love doing it in extermination mission under eximus condition...).

I'm pretty sure the Helios can use the Synthesis scanner still, question is whether or not it yields points, guess not. The Heliocor also counts as regular scans and doesn't use scanners as far as I am aware, so it's normal for it to not work for synthesis scans.

hmm, no i think it uses the normal codex scanner (i think helios is also older than simaris and his scanner - not sure though). even though i didn't use helios in ages, i neither got simaris points from its scans, nor did it helped me with synthesis target. but then again, its been ages and i might be mistaken or something was changed in the meantime...
EDIT: i just remembered, that helios won't scan anything as soon as the codex entry is completed - so even if it would use the synthesis scanner, i won't be a usefull tool to get standing with simaris.

- Go to a relay (eg larunda on mercury)

- go to simaris room (if you don't know where it is : escape menu > fast travel > simaris)

- behind simaris (the big orange floating stuff) there are two consoles : the consoles on the right sells simaris stuff (like synthesis scanner)
