Saryn low level build?
So I've recently acquired Saryn from the female warframe pack and I'm trying to level her up. I've checked out a lot of builds and it seems like they're all based on primed mods, or mods which I simply don't have (corrosive projection, continunity, transient fortitude, etc), or even 4 forma builds O.o.

I'm just looking for a build that I can actually use her abilities with and not feel like I'm basically just using a good gun to level her up until i can actually get the mods to use her abilities.

Mods I have of note are stretch, fleeting expertise, flow, streamline, narrow minded and intensify.

Thanks for any tips!

1) Most frames if you want to fit all the mods you want to be a good frame build it takes 3-4 forma depending on how many base polarities it had and the aura you use. So don't look so shocked. The 6+ forma builds are your advanced ones.

2) Sayrns most powerful ability is Spore. This is affected by range and duration for spread, and power stregth for damage. After that its based on your playstyle. Some players go for the regenerating molt build. Others like me go for contagion lash. Others use a spore/miasma double team, spreading spores and then poping them all with miasma.

3) I'd give you a build but its clear you wouldn't have the mods, so I'm just pointing you in the right direction. If you want a mod specific build just ask.

If you havent got the mods from builds people post, then just exchange them as best you can with what you do have.Increase the same stats and you'll be fine until you do get those mods.If you go to abilities, you can toggle on show after modding, and see just how that changed the abilities.

A lot of the mods you actually need to make a conscious effort to farm, use the wiki and go get those suckers.

I kind of just went with a bargain bin spore build. I don't have over extended yet, and I'm only level 16 with her, so I'm just using whatever I have to do damage. Luckily I have some decent weapons so it's not too bad. I'd like to pick up overextended so I can extend the range a bunch, but i'll have to find where to farm for it.

Thanks for all tips though, any more thoughts, feel free to share

Saryn needs a particular weapon combo to shine ability wise early on.

A toxic weapon with high status chance is what you need. Gas Ignus is your best bet.

Mod for range and duration.

Cast it on two different enemies attack one with your gun. When a couple of spores have popped chang target. Now just keep swapping between targets as the whole room dies to the spore dot. If no targets in range or sticking your head out is too dangerous you can cast a molt (2nd) and then spore on the molt. Shoot the molt a few times and the reapply spore. Rinse repeat room dead.

If you want to go melee instead then it's still range and duration. Cast spore on a 2 targets, cast (3rd) toxic lash and melee away spreading the spores. Molt (2nd) to draw fire away as you melee.

----1

I found Saryn terrible for low level content since the guns and melee killed enemies too fast to spread the spore to the rest so I may as well have been playing any frame with those weapons.

So be aware Saryn has some ramp up time for her abilities to really shine. But boy do they shine.

Use a toxin based elemental on your weapon (gas, viral, toxin, corrosive) to pop your spores. The damage will be combined for higher damage. My personal favorite is Scattering Acid Rounds Sobek.

You can also spore your molt, then recast molt to spread.(or shoot molt)

Don't forget to buff range AND duration when you get the mods to do so. Range determines initial distance of spread, while duration makes it last longer and thus continue to spread.

awesome, I had (have) no idea about toxic weapon with high status chance spreading the spores more. What weapon would be decent for mastery rank 5 ish? I haven't finished the star chart, but I have access to most of the planets now so I can farm for most materials.

My other problem with range and duration is that I can't afford to cast the abilities more than 2 or 3 times if I don't use fleeting expertise. I do see the potential, but yea, it does seem like I could be rocking Excalibur and destroying things while I'm barely staying relevant as Saryn right now

I could never get into old sayrn and didn't revisit her till prime release. A friend and I were doing t4 survival, and we weren't sure how long wed last (he was new to game) I ended ip carrying us to 60 min with her. Sure we died a bit but still. We camped out a dead end and I kept keeping a molt at the entrence to draw fire and had at it.

Sobek is an m4 weapon I believe. Get its syndicate augment for buffed status + heal/blast damage proc.

Ignis is early mastery. M5 I believe. Will be in dojo, grineer lab.

Also, fleeting expertise isn't the do allbe sll for effincy. Some builds ccan't afford its negative duration. Some you can counter its negative with duration mods. Get yourself a streamline. Also, some builds no matter how you mod you end up with negative effincy if you don't want to sacrifice other parts. This is where energy regeneration comes in . Energy siphon, Rage, carrier and focus school .

If you have the basic warframe mods maxed (stretch+intensify+flow+streamline+continuity) and maybe either health or shield mods, you can sail through low level content pretty easily.

Also Min-Maxing a non-primed warframe, especially when you don't have resources to spare, seems wasteful.

Look up her Abilities and check Tips & Tricks.

Even if you don't have all the mods you want, you can certainly pick and choose from what you have.

PS Especially early on / lower level missions, you're usually just killing things before they kill you. So basically, it's you and your gun. Worry about the rest when your stuff is rank 30, meanwhile just bring along Vitality / Redirection [health and shield] mods and hopefully a Rejuvenation [or Energy Siphon] aura mod... even if they don't 'fit' [match the polarity].

That's basically what's happening. I guess I was hoing to use her abilities a little more, but she doesn't seem to be as simple as Excalibur. I might get her to 30 and then put her away until I get some of the mods that would fit her better. I have frost and rhino building right now, so i'll mess with them too.

Range above all over but her powers, but even spore is limited at low level. Without overextend you can double up with stretch and cunning drift. Her passive extends status procs so using weapons that have 20% or more status is a good idea. It's probably said, but spore is viral but if the enemy has toxic proc, spore will carrry that over too. Her 3 is also able to add toxic proc.

You dont need nighmare mods to make Saryn good. It took me a good week to figure her out. I recommend you get Regenative Molt (for HP regen) and a melee with a good slam attack. Casting spore onto molt and slamming it with your jump melee attack will spread spores effectively. Repeat every 20 seconds or so to make sure everything is infected. I have uses Orthos Prime but really anything with a AoE slam would work.

Ideally for Saryn you want range over any other stat. Her other 2 offensive abilities are linked directly to Spores, so being able to spread them across a wide area is normally priority number one of a Saryn build.
If you can get hold of the Overextended mod, then that makes a great starting point. It'll drop your power strength, but there are plenty of ways to get that back, plus Saryn's Spore damage constantly scales upwards as they're popped with no ceiling, so even with a low amount of power strength it's possible to make them do a lot of damage, albeit taking a little bit longer to get there.

As for a weapon to use, I'm quite taken with the Dual Ichors for her, they're extremely fast, do pure toxic damage, have a good status chance and attack in wide arcs which is great for Spore popping even without using Toxic Lash. If you stick a cold mod on them to give them viral damage, they're surprisingly effective at wiping out even high level enemies, plus spreading viral with spores and dropping all enemies health by 50% so long as the spores stay on them is a great way to weaken any opposing force.
