Exterminate would be the easiest for you (also most people run Exterminate for genetic codes) and you'd want to bring either an Ivara (to use sleep arrow), Equinox (with rest), or a Vauban to make scanning easier on you. Preferably with the synth scanner upgrade for multiple scans so you can rake in those genetic codes.

thanks i had given survival a shot with sleep equinox (augmented) but it was difficult to scan through the horde.

Just use oberon and solo it, thats the easiest oberons passive will automatically make the kavats your allies within range so you can see the blue dot on the map and know where exactly it is. It also makes it easier bc they wont run when you scan them and once you have cleared room of enemies they will literally help you do so by which afterwards you can scan them.

Take a Vauban with max range / high duration. The trick is to toss your bastille orb from afar. It'll trap all the mobs and you can then do a cat scan. [You'd want at least 70% strength to trap up to 8 mobs, or use Repelling Bastille]

Best done in a group, since it will increase the number of available cats to scan. You also don't want to wait too long at the start of the map, the mobs will already be in combat.

So kavats spawn increase with player count? Do people still do kavat hunts or no?

Yeah people still do kavat scanning runs I'm sure you'll see some in recruit chat. Though I've done enough Kavat scanning for one life time (60+ genetic codes and that's the first week they came out)

Exterminate or Capture. Kavats spawns increase with *enemy* count - which increases with player count - but there are a set limit in every mission so with Survivals you're either wasting too much time after they've all been gotten or not spending enough time to get them all.

Capture has the advantage that once you snag the objective you can leave as soon as you've explored everything.

Exterminate has the advantage in that in exploring everything you'll have to kill and so having an enemy limit is a good indication of how much you've got left to explore.

I prefere Exterminates when farming.

If they're asleep you should be able to run right up into the horde. and scan them from up close.

^^this^^ and i'd like to add inaros as a good frame to use for the scanning (his first ability pacifying the kavats when they are on a rampage) - also, when going in the mission, best put out the weapon fron any sentinel you use, for they love to kill the cat b4 you can scan them (carrier-(c)ills-the-cat ;)

OR use a maxed Oberon...

Exterminate with Oberon using a 5 Forma Ignis. You won't kill the Kavats and they'll be friendly when they get close.

Still after getting 20 of them total. I just bought the rest in order to get Smeeta. I had to scan over 200 of those pesky little cats.

My prefered method would be the use a heliocor in tandem with a warframe such as rhino (no status procs, knockdowns, or damage to worry about), and simply run through exterminates killing everything with the heliocor. It removes the tedium of actually scanning as well as the risk of accidently killing them before you scan. Please note: this method is best done solo.

CC Frost (~250 range, ~40 strength) works very well, Avalanche freezes all the map and they just stand there frozen waiting to be scanned. Just make sure you dont use Avalanche more than 2-3 times, or you will kill everything, even the cats.
