Besides that, I'm sure anyone would be fine with being able to make more complicated music. But it has to be held to a standard so that no two Octavias can be so drastically different that you can't keep up with them. That's probably also why the songs play the way they do, with no way to change the BPM or anything. Because it'd get too complicated ingame, and people ALREADY are lazy and just make "non-music" that rapidly spam the same single note constantly with no volume. Because they can't be assed to make the music, and because they want to optimize for gameplay, not be creative.
Problem is when there are more than one Octavia on the team.

i think the whole reason that Octavias currently make garbage music is partly at fault for how limiting it really is, pair that with it being optimal for DPS and i could see the reasoning of "well if this is how i'm supposed to play, i might as well build for DPS rather than good music."
i think this problem can be solved by a simple change, the more a note repeats in the same fashion the less it's bonuses will be. pair this with the changes mentioned on top and i can see people making good varied music.
