Once you max level a frame is it useless ?

I read once the frame is max level you no longer get Affinity, which sucks because some frames i REALLY enjoy and then to know i cant gain towards the next master rank is kind of a downer. Is this correct or am i missing something?

Well the game more or less forces you to level different things from 0-30 to gain mastery xp. But nothing is keeping you away from sticking to one thing for a while so.

Once a frame is rank 30 you can no longer get mastery rank exp from it, so it is useless for getting more mastery experience. However, certain frames are worth keeping for other things, such as any frame that has stealth, can be useful for spy missions.

Things don't become useless just because they can't contribute to MR xp, get out of that mind set. When you find things you really like and want to invest time/forma into, that's absolutely fine. You should keep building other new things, absolutely, but that doesn't mean you have to feel compelled to use ALWAYS be using brand new gear to rank up. It isn't realistic to always do, because of build wait times and how you have to farm for things.


Also there is a mechanic you unlock after you complete the Second Dream quest that lets you put a type of item into weapons and Warframes that are level 30. Equipment with that item installed will generate a new kind of XP that's used for a new subset of abilities/passives.

You still gain affinity, but on a base max ranked frame the is nowhere for the affinity to be banked, so initially it is a bit of a waste. Wear a syndicate sigil and that affinity will be translated into some reputation for syndicate rank or to buy syndicate items. Later in game mechanics exist to redirect this extra affinity into leveling other things [spoilers].

It's not a total waste though - affinity has a range, so the xp you generate is projected out to buff the xp of other players around you. Stick close to your team so you can see tenno affinity on your hud and you'll be helping other players level. There's a bunch of other affinity mechanics I forget right now.

So level all your stuff to level 30. Warframe mechanics encourage you to at least hit 30 in everything you can get your hands on for mastery rank. But don't worry that max rank is the end of the story - keep playing and you'll eventually find ways to put that affinity back to good use.

If you're concerned about MR, just craft a bunch of weapons. Eventually, you'll be crafting lots of frames too just out of curiosity.

Also worth noting - As you play, you'll be able to get lenses, which can only be installed on things that are affinity 30. You'll see them mentioned in the "actions" button in the arsenal when at the modding screen. To avoid spoilers, I will just say that they open the door to a new EXP pool that is used for some mid-game content.

yeah, keep atleast 1 spot open in all of your sections (frames, primaies, melees, and secondaies) and buy/craft new ones level them and sell them. Play with the one syou like hwne you arent gridnign mastery rank.

Yeah, but the first new frame you craft apart froms your base frame is agony for 3 days, eventually you will be rolling out frames like a factory.

Later on there are also missions which you can only enter with a max level warframe. Nuff said :D

Edit: That said Mastery Ranks are near useless after a certain rank. Unlocks only go to...i don even remember, 14 maybe? 16? Granted the limit climbed, was... 8 i think when i started.
After that all you get is more trades and faction points per day, so you will likely focus only on new weapons or frames that really interrest you.

16. I don't believe there is anything locked after 16. Weapons by 15, rivens at 16.
