New player, How 2 earn platinum?
I've heard a decent amount of stuff about the game and just now i've finally decided to well. Actually play it again for real, but i've heard its not a good idea to buy plat and to just earn it? any ideas how?

also atm I mostly just want to unlock more frames cause atm I only got the electric one and i'm trying to figure out whether its smarter to buy a blueprint and build the frame or try and grind some plat to buy em straight out.

dont' buy plat for full price, the starter pack is fine and if you get a 75% off coupon, buy the $50 pack, then you will never have to worry, rhino should be the first frame you build, other than that rank up your MR and trade prime parts for plat, use plat to buy slots, enjoy tenno

Got it...whats a prime part? there's like a lot of different systems and subsystems I see nearly every time I head back to my ship and it leaves me confused.

many warframes/weapons have "prime" variants, the parts are tradable. you get them by running relic missions.

Relics are lootboxes. They are rewards you get for completing some missions. To actually open the relic, you need to run missions called "voïd fissures" (Those should be available in the top-right UI when you're in the starchart. The icon looks like a flame of sort.)

Now, for the trading part...

Don't expect to make huge amount of platinum any time soon as a low Mastery Rank player, since the number of trade you can do per day is limited by said Mastery Rank.

Also, don't forget that the prime parts you get from relics won't sell that much (for the most part), because, well, they are easy to get and everybody has them, so people may only buy them for their ducat value (ducat=another currency used by an in-game NPC trader, but don't worry about that for now)

Ayatan sculptures is also a thing that can be sold for platinum and is a reliable source of income at low MR.
Some people also buy relics in pack of x10, so you could gather a bunch of them and sell them : this requires you to have access to the "void" in the star-map, since there, you'll be guaranteed to drop relics and the capture missions down there can be done under 1or2 mins.

You should join a clan ASAP, so that you'll be able to do trades in the Dojo. Otherwise you'll have to ask to be invited each time by the buyer. (You could also trade in some relays)

TLDR : join a clan, complete the star chart, do your 'main' quest and be patient. It is advised to spend plat on warframe/weapon slots at first.

The game is a huge sprawling mess with years of things added in, some of them all but abandoned and others active and critical to progression. It takes a while to get all that down.

early game, your primary focus should be ranking up your mods and finding a set of gear you like (1 frame, 1 primary weapon, 1 2nd weapon, and one melee weapon). There are many, many styles of those so playing around with basic versions to see what you like is worth a bit of time. Many weapons require you to rank up a fair bit to use them.
Getting that one set of gear takes a LOT of work, time and money (game money, not real money). In short you need to rank up the correct mods for each one -- that means finding them and some of them only drop in difficult content -- and also rank up the gear, but it gets worse; to get the 1/2 off mod slots (attuned to one of the symbols) you have to also get reactors (special once in a while rewards from missions, often 1-2/week but not always) and reset the gear (level it from 0 to max rank again!), typically 5 or so per item. It takes a great many missions to max out just one set of gear, but thankfully mods start to be reused frequently across different builds (esp frames and pets) so once you are over the initial hump expanding your armory gets faster and easier. There are a number of specific map nodes where people go to re level gear quickly, the 'beginner' one is saturn=helene. Its ok to go in there as a beginner to get your first set ranked up too.

Once you get settled in, relics are a pretty good priority as well since you can make some really nice gear from the drops. Basically, a relic is a loot chest that you may open to get prime parts, which you can assemble into a weapon, frame, pet (in short, your gear items).
To get a relic, they are rewards from some missions and you can also buy them from reputation (the reputation system is another can of worms, but worth doing). Once you have them, you can open them in special missions, if you succeed. They are marked as such on your map. While the easy relic missions are just that .. easy.. to actually assemble most items you will need to do higher level relics as typically one of the parts is found in a high tier relic. So for that reason do not expect to build a lot of items right off: you should be able to handle at least level 30 enemy in solo missions without a lot of trouble before you can get all the prime parts to make most items.

The parts can be traded for plat -- circling back to your original question. But don't expect to get a great deal of it for common items. The real money is found by getting luck with a retired relic (has drops you can't get right now) for popular items (most frames but only a fraction of the weapons).

One extremely simple / reliable method available early is to rank up a syndicate & keep farming the rep to buy & sell mods. Lots of ppl don't bother with syndicates for some reason. Mods always sell like hotcakes, and there's cheap in rep so you can sell tons.
