How do I get stronger?

So I'm MR4 and up to the quest where you have to kill Protea with the Xoris and she's kicking my ass. I have Rhino level 30 with rank 7 vitality, rank 6 redirection, rank 6 steel fibre and rank 5 fast deflection. I also got my Xoris to level 24 and it has rank 5 pressure point and rank 5 fever strike. Despite this I still do little damage to her and she destroys me even through Rhino's shield ability. I understand what I have to do mechanically it just feels like a DPS / Defence issue.

Regardless, my question is less about this specific quest and more in general what do you do to get more powerful after all your equipment is level 30 and modded out? Looking at enemy scaling they seem to get drastically stronger in the game but I have no idea how to make my character stronger. Is it just find better rarer mods? does mastery level actually make you stronger or is it just a status thing that also gives you more access to things like daily rep? I'm only up to Ceres on the star chart.

I guess the simple question is what is the progression route for power increase once you have a level 30 piece of equipment that has all mod capacity used?

Should I also be cracking open all relics I get without upgrading them or should I really be upgrading them? Even ones with mediocre loot.

I generally solo these types of games as I find getting carried or boosted to be really boring, so when soloing is it better to spam low level missions to level up lower level weapons? or are there better methods specifically for solo affinity farming?

Sounds like you need to do some mod farming as those standard stating mods don't really do anything after a while

Use forma to allow for a greater mod capacity in order to equipped the high end game mods

When cracking relics - do it in a group since you then get 4 options to choose from instead of 1. Therefore increasing your chances of getting the rarer primed gear

Ok so what mods should I be looking for to progress past the starting ones? Is there a general zone that starts dropping better ones or a specific farming method for them?

And yeah I'm starting to get forma blueprints from relics and am just advancing to Jupiter in order to get the resources to craft them.

Your Xoris can be thrown and detonated. It deals a rather absurd amount of damage (for midgame, high level enemies will laugh at it). The moment you take her to a "rewind" point, all her spectres ghost and you have easily enough time to collect them and boom her. Rinse and Repeat, dead protea.

Also, dont try to melee her, she has better everything than you do at MR4 (I was MR4 when I did it and lost a couple times before going melee-grenade launcher FTW).

Dude look thins cant be simpler get your MR to lvl 16 and you have all the game content unlock if you dont want to do that at least get your MR to lvl 7 and you will have more and stronger weapons and the protea you can do that with a lvl 1 paper warframe easy just Bjump and rollalso drop heal and shield on the floor from time to time.

I would recommend removing Redirection, Fast Deflection and Vitality. Rhino doesn't need those 3 mods since you can abuse his Iron Skin.

For the build:

Orokin Reactor (from 30 cap to 60 cap)
Steel Charge (aura slot adds 18 cap)
Total 78 cap

Steel Fiber
Iron Shrapnel (syndicate mod)
Fleeting Expertise (dragon vault)
Blind Rage (dragon vault)
Transient Fortitude (dragon vault)
Intensify

Mods that only have 5 or less rank, get them maxed. Those that cap at 10, get them to 8. The reason is that Rank 9 and 10 takes a lot of endo and credits for newer players to afford. Rank 8 provides a good balance of cost to performance.

Dragon Vaults are found on Deimos (mission nodes, not free roam).
Equip all 4 keys on your gear wheel and run Deimos -> Horend (capture mission), Cap the target, run to extraction, open the dragon vault if you see it along your way.

You can get the blueprints for dragon keys from the clan Orokin Lab.

Iron Shrapnel is sold by Steel Meridian and Perrin Sequence. Though, if you are in a clan, try asking to see if anyone is willing to trade you one. It allows you to refresh Iron Skin on demand.

Equip Rhino with a Hek (MR 4) and you'll be good to go stomping through the Starchart.

Ok ty, I did manage to snag a Orokin reactor from a quest I think but didn't want to use it because I had no idea how rare they were and I'm not really planning on using rhino that much but looking them up they don't seem too rare or expensive to craft.

You can find Orokin Reactors and Orokin Catalysts in Nora's Nightwave shop. However, I recommend new players to a set of Vauban blueprints and some Nitian Extracts before purchasing Reactors/Catalysts (aka potatoes).

You'll get 150 nora credits at 1st tier/level, that's enough to buy a set of Vauban and 25 Nitain extracts (5x15 nora credits)

yeah , the fight against protea is pointless without the xoris , you have to charge it and throw it into the ghosts , when protea is rewinding throw it and detonate it near her to stop her from resetting , do it 3 times and finished , my xoris was rank 6 with almost no mods equipped , that frisbee was designed specifically to fight her and the ghosts

Yeah I've done the quest now. I knew what you had to do mechanically, it was the inbetween part where you had to drain her shield and HP that I was struggling with since she'd just 100 - 0 me even with my shield ability on in a second. Rather than meleeing her with the Xoris I just spammed the Frisbee throw over and over to drain her shield and health before doing the ghost power up mechanic move.

Reactors and Catalysts are no longer all that rare anymore! :)

You can farm them by doing Nightwave challenges and spending 75 Nightwave credits on one.

Once you get to around Neptune, you're going to start *needing* to slot them into your gear if you want to be able to handle the difficulty spike at that part of the game.

Once you have a steady supply of those, and figure out what stats are best for each warframe/weapon, your combat options massively open up.

Also, definitely start working on increasing that Mastery Rank by mastering new weapons and warframes. It unlocks much better guns that you can build.

You need better mods, try to check what mods do you need in a guide from a video in Youtube. And once you have those mods of course you have to upgrade them as much as you can.

Leveling your mastery rank gives you more option to get better weapons, so yeah it does matter leveling your mr rank until you reach at least mr15.

You have to upgrade those relics when you need a specific piece, for example, let's say that you're farming Nidus prime, you have 2 pieces already but you're missing the gold pieces, then you have to upgrade those relics to radiant to try to get the gold pieces you need.
