AS for weapons....
Primary: ignis wraith should be craftable from a clan dojo I think. Good old flamethrower. Still one of the strongest weapons and probably the easiest one to get early. Mastery Level 9 might be an issue though.
Secondary: Catchmoon Kitgun. Easy to get early as well. Just gotta farm and craft it.
Melee: Lesion of Serpfahn (Zaw)
Good old Serpfahn Zaw is still kicking and easy to get. Lesion is mastery 9 but remains one of the strongst staffs. And the recipe can be bought from the market for credits.
Broken War is another decent option and you get it after finishing the second dream quest anyway.
status means hitting them over and over, and this is impractical until the enemy reach a level that brute force stops working. The actual level where that happens depends on your mod quality, forma applied, and general ability to build your guns.
when they were new I went all in on kitguns and have several that are overly formaed and sort of obnoxious.
here is an example of my full auto that I use on everything level 50 and below.
the damage types vary (viral shown, as I was probably playing mag; its fire now since I am grinding holiday infested runs) depending on what I am doing, but you see here the 1800 damage X 5 (critical damage multiplier) at 99% chance to crit and 15 rounds/second. Even better head shots kill 2 nearby enemy from the arcane, which I need to beef on up to max rank but I hate grinding venus open world. This isnt an endgame build, its a jus a trash cleaner, but you get the idea. WIth this you can farm anything you need: the stuff at higher levels has less tangible rewards (good stuff, but the prime gear, crafting materials, quests, and everything you see here, etc, are all sortie or less level content).
even if the enemy were 75% resistant to my damage, it would still clear anything on the star chart.

there are many types of melee weapons, ranging from swords, rapiers, and even literal guns. some weapons are best used with light attacks (like nikanas, swords, heavy blades and polearms), and some are best used with heavy attacks (rapiers, glaives and whips). some melee types are best used by not using them at all (hammers). some can be good with both forms of attacks (claws and scythes).
the best light melees are: nikana prime, gram prime, kronen prime, tenet gregory, and venka prime
best heavy melees are: destreza prime, glaive prime, stropha (I'd recommend running a hybrid build and not just full heavy on this), tenet gregory, pennant, destreza prime, atterax, venka prime, and destreza prime.
also destreza prime is the best melee in the game because heavy spins exist
also a funny thing you can do is use limbo and his rift torrent augment, get a massive damage buff, and spam exodia contagion and one shot everything. exodia contagion is an arcane you can use to put aoe on your zaw. a zaw is a type of melee you can build in cetus. make sure you get at least a rank one exodia contagion because its practically free right now because of the event in deimos. I'd recommend getting a sepfahn nikana for it but you can use whatever you want to.
His 1 is a quick slice'n'dice combo attack on enemies in front of him,
his 2 blinds enemies and causes them to take extra damage from melee attacks,
his 3 is a an AoE sword explosion
and his 4 summons his own energy sword that's very powerful and creates ranged shockwaves with each swing.
As a bonus - he gains +10% attack speed with any one-handed and dual swords.
Unfortunately if you didn't pick him at the start - you won't be able to gain access to him for a while. I think he drops from like... Neptune or something?...
Valkyr is a berzerker frame. She has next to no shields, but the highest amount of armor in the game - meaning that enemies barely put a dent in her. Her 3 greatly increases melee attack speed and her ultimate are her claws and she's invincibile while using them (but uses crap ton of energy the longer she goes on).
But that's about it for melee-themed warframes. Everybody else does their own thing.
Technically speaking any frame is a melee frame if you try hard enough and learn to work around their kit if it allows for it. Hell, Rhino poses on his title hard with a Scindo axe - he got the tankiness to make it personal and got the damage buff to make his attacks count. He's also often depicted using Fragor hammer.
As for good early game melees.... Hmmmmmmmm...
From a quick look at the wiki can't say i see anything that catches my eye.
You have Galatine and Heat Sword at MR3 (heat sword is a direct upgrade from Skana).
But i also noticed that Zaws have no MR requirement.
Zaws are special make-your-own melees that you can assemble at Cetus city on earth.
While you'll probably won't have access to the best parts - their default stats are pretty nice and you can assemble a very neat little sword from them.
Might require some grind though.
also for melee frames to farm i would recommend khora since her 1 does scale with melee damage, just need sancuary onslaught unlocked and run to round 8 a few times, the drop chance is pretty high AND its a decent way of leveling gear at the same time (not the best but still good)
as for melee weapons i like the guandao prime, but the normal one is fine as well (clan weapon though)
or the cronus which is a bonus drop from vor on mercury (used it for a good chunk of normal starchart) he also drops the seer pistol (kinda crap but it helps raise your mastery rank sooooooo) both are cheap to craft
I would suggest Zephyr, since nobody mentionned her.
Ok, you have to be in a clan to get the blueprints, but she's a very verstile frame, able to complete all mission types easily.
(And if you ever want to get the most of out this game, you will eventually need other clan-only blueprints anyway, so join or make one Asap, this will make your "warframe life" easier at some point.)
Back to Zephyr :
- The 4 is a great crowd control tool but it also can deal huge amounts of damage : shooting at the tornadoes will make them deal the type of damage your weapon does the most.
- The 3 is an amazing buff : immunity to projectiles + your bullets travel faster. This makes melee much more viable when you have to face a lot of enemies coming at you from multiple angles. Also, every weapon that isn't "hit-scan"-based will greatly benefits from this.
- The 2 is a nice 'pull and pack' trick, which, again, makes melee easier or using AoE weapons much more efficiently.
- The 1 & the passive are quite just "niche" usage only at first (because of energy management) but it can be either replaced later (helmint) or, for the passive, changed thanks to an augment mod.
- Using Gaz + Slash status weaponery yields very nice results with this Warframe's kit.
volt is hard to beat, you can use a slow hard hitter at warp 9 with the speed skill and move quickly from enemy to enemy.
atlas #1 is auto-melee, it pulls you around to each enemy and clobbers them.
mag, again, pull and slice is just outstanding (new since last update, it now piled up a bunch of guys prone and ready for a smack down)
ivara, you can stealth kill tough guys first and then finish anyone alerted with normal hits all while they mill about wondering where you are, and she can make thrown melee do tricks with her projectile magic.
nova has a short range ability that smacks anything that gets close and her big ability makes them take extra damage.
those are just some basic ideas of using various frames to melee, but there are many, many other ways to do it. Just cruise through the skills and ask yourself how you can use it to buff the style, or not. Also depends on whether you consider abilities that do melee as useful, eg atlas above, or khora's whipclaw, nekros punch, whatever else. Crowd control can let you cruise through stuff to melee it with less risk, eg mass confusion, volt's stun, limbo popping in and out of reality to avoid hits and gather up a group to smack, all kinds of dirty tricks to play...
