I think that, with the heavy co-op nature of Railjack, the crewships are indeed nigh-invincible. I did take a couple down with my RJ, but it took some insane amount of time and missiles. Also, I noticed that you can attack them safely if you stick behind them, as their guns have a limited arc and a blindspot on their 6 'o clock.
The dev intended method to deal with crewships seems to be for a player to enter the crewships and blow up the reactor. This is possible to do solo, but you need to "over level" your RJ compared to the mission to make it feasible without absurd amounts of luck.
But they ARE destroyable from the outside. Ok. That makes the Dome Cannon a little more appealing. I'll have to see how many shots it takes. How long did you spend shooting one to down it?
I'm sure there's a way to permanently disable them, even from outside, even if you have to personally blow up their rector. I'm still experimenting.
Also, this might just be something locked behind a intrinsic shaped lock. Maybe at gunnery 7 you'll get "can destroy large ships".
2. Kind of hard to say. I mean I thought so at first besides the fact you have to fly in and destroy the reactor but recently, I had one guy use the dome cannon and actually destroy the crewship with one shot.
3. So far I have not come across any upgrades for the dome cannon. Just only turrets, missiles and the three components to your ship (engine, shield and reactor). The only thing I would hope for is another hotfix to come in soon to make adjustment with Railjack again.
Maybe because i haven't left Earth yet (solo saturn does not appeal to me, waiting for my friend).
If it's something locked behind Intrinsic, it's not shown, so it'd probably be a hidden thing if it is.

Like I said, I used the Dome Cannon and hit a Crew Ship and did over 1 mil red damage, but maybe it has infinite punch-through and I just missed the reactor. I'll have to try it again later while aiming better.
I have absolutely no problem with boarding the ship and doing it the good old fashioned way, but having an alternative open to people who invest in the Gunnery department would be nice, as well.
Saturn is a little different from what I've seen, so it may not work the same way.
Honestly, I think it's just buggy or desynced like a lot of the railjack stuff seems to be. XD I literally had one of the gunner turrets jam up at the bottom of the ramp before, meaning it was no longer usable.
They'll fix it eventually, I'm sure.
- Find crewship.
- Tell someone in your party, preferably with an @name, "Hey ♥♥♥♥♥, take the helm and fly me closer so I can hit it with my sword!"
- Get in the slingshot, aim, and fire.
- Once you crash through their hull and teach them what it feels like to get a ramsled to the kidney, run up to the reactor and hit it with your sword, repeatedly.
- Once the reactor commits not function, perform an emote, place a glyph, and take a selfie.
- Leave ship by preferred means.
- ???
- Grofit!
Entire process generally takes 20 seconds and doesn't cost resources.
