Nooo... Pretty sure they did. What they just described is exactly what I do (except I stay in the archwing and got decent with reversing thrust when 2s out of energy).
It's gotten to the point where I practically race the course, spot out which loot markers are wisps (did a few times so I know the spots), and get 20 in what feels like 5 minutes.
Bounties are slow and not worth for wisp farming.
Going for a walk around Gara's lake, then exiting and re-entering the Plains, is the least time-wasting method IMO. That Itzal method mentioned is literally the same thing, just fancier.
Just check web for wisp map and rush through then the very first thing every time you join plains.
