Do i need to buy Reactors and Catalysts for platinum?
And if so, how much for the first time?
5/5 or 10/10?

You can gain reactors and catalysts from alerts or invasions
Mr. Skipperpocket Feb 19, 2019 @ 10:09am
They are 20p each, but on occasion a blueprint can be a reward for an alert and there are a few other ways, just check the wiki for more information

just wait for an alert mission. or Gift from Lotus. 20p maybe not that much but at early days, maybe you can consider buy something else. weapon and/or frame slot instead of reactor and catalyst

if you have none at all and are trying to progress through the game, upgrading 1 frame and 1 weapon (even if bought) may be worthwhile for some (impatient) people. Its still a waste of money, but as a startup/speedup, the first pair is ... justifiable somewhat.
Wolfguarde Feb 19, 2019 @ 10:35am
You don't strictly need to, and if you're only using a few frames/weps it's probably going to be more worth your time to farm them. 20p is fairly easy to make, though, once you've done a bit of relic farming and got some prime stuff to trade. The mods you get from the highest syndicate rep rewards go for 10+ plat each, and the rep to get them is pretty low.

That said, if you do what I do, collect frames/weps and then go play with builds on each of them... it gets annoying waiting, and it's honestly a hell of a lot easier to go trade for a metric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of plat and just buy your reactors/catalysts.

No one is stopping you from buying Reactors and Catalysts with plat. Though if you don't want to spend plat and want to try and save it up for something else in the future, then be on the look out for Alerts and Invasions that reward either one.

thank you all
i read the wiki and there are a little to no chance to get it from alerts and\or invasions, really.
I don't sit in the game the whole day, but i have a phone app to monitor alerts and invasions, but i do it occasionally
i already used one catalyst but didn't get any reactors yet in a week

Honestly, they come up really very rarely, although it's worth hanging around about the time of the dev streams, those have reactors and catalysts most often... But yeah, I haven't regularly seen more than, say, one a week otherwise.

So, if you need one and have 20p to spare? I'd say absolutely buy one... But be sure you need it first. If you build carefully, you can fit a reasonably effective build into 30 points plus aura... At least enough to get a job done on the star chart.

Also, grab aura mods, those will really help.

I use this website to check alerts for Niatan, catalysts and alt helms for Warframes. Just look every now and then to see what's the current rewards are.

Theres also the Warframe mobile app which will let you keep track of alerts and even manipulate your foundry.

There is also the Discord Genesis bot ( https://discordbots.org/bot/genesis ) where you can set what you want to track specifically and what you want to be pinged (notified) of

At least once a week there is a pair of Gift of the Lotus alerts. They usualy happen friday or saturday and the alert lasts for 24 hours. That's 2 every week.

The rewards for the Gift of the Lotus alerts can be formas, exilus adapters, various veiled rivens, Orokin Reactors or Orokin Catalysts.

Just like all alerts, they can be at missions you don't have available yet. However, typically 1 of the Gift of the Lotus alerts will be on a lower level mission and one will be on a higher level mission.

If you aren't seeing them that often, you need to progress through the star chart more, making sure you unlock all nodes on the planets you have reached and trying to unlock more planets.

There are also event invasions that happen every so often. These are Razorback and Fomorian invasions. You can see the progress circle for them at the bottom of the invasions list in Navigation. These invasion events also typically give either an Orokin Reactor or an Orokin Catalyst.

Random Orokin Reactor and Catalyst invasions and alerts do happen every so often. Those are the typical short term ones. The alerts are the standard hour or so and the invasions are typically fast as well because many people run them to get the reward.

Most likely, you aren't seeing the alerts and invasions as often as you should be simply because you haven't unlocked the missions where they pop up.

If you don't want to wait on alerts and invasions you can access and you have the tracker, you can always ask in recruiting for a taxi to the alert mission. That's when someone who can access the mission invites you and starts the run so you can be in it.

If you don't want to wait on the alerts and invasions at all (they don't happen every day) then by all means, go ahead and use 20 plat on one. I know the first Reactor I put on a frame made a BIG difference and helped a lot with unlocking more planets.

I don't recommend making to much of a habit of it though. At a certain point, you're going to end up with more Reactors than you have things to use them on just by getting all the free ones. Catalysts are a different story because there are waaay more weapons than frames, but I'd still suggest waiting on the free catalysts.

You don't have to buy reactors/catalysts for plat... but early game your options for getting them tend to be limited in comparison to your options for new gear and frames. If you don't care about the money, save yourself the wait and buy em with plat.

A fully kitted out frame and weapons with reactors, catalysts and an exilus adaptor will cost you about a buck (provided you buy the plat when you have a discount or in bulk). That makes them great value for money early game.

Later on when you have more equipment options and a better inventory of problem solving stuff you won't be as dependent on a few good frames/weapons to carry you. Then you can be more frugal waiting around for reactors/catalysts to drop and just putting them in gear you favor.

If you spot this message soon? There's a catalyst blueprint alert right now, for another hour and 45 mins.
