play solo or go off away from others or have a team you can work with. There are a number of frames that require cooperation in a group to reach their full potential, like making use of revs zombies or letting hydroid's tentacles actually grab some guys before you kill them, etc.

Nidus is pretty tanky if he has enough stacks. But seeing how every match you go into is gonna be filled with Nuke-frames, he's not very viable. If there's a nuke-frame in the match, then just sit back and let them do the work because you can't get anything done with Nidus or your weapons. I can't really reccommend solo but if you just want to have fun with Nidus then go for it. You could also go away from your teammates and gather stacks that way.

so basically nidus is f*cking useless in 80% of online matches?

Not really. His 3rd skill when used on enemy gives him a huge damage reducion and when used on allies gives them a power strength buff. His second is pretty good for grouping up targets as well(unless there's any kind of frame that insta kills everything in a 30 metre radius). If you can stack him up, his 4 is also a good on demand aoe HoT, with an augment allowing you to double stacks received from his 1 and 4s maggot explosions. It's true that it's hard to keep up with pugs when it comes to nukes, but in higher level missions it's actually pretty easy. Defo not useless. Also adaptadility mod, arcane grace and arcane guardianhelp with tankiness a lot, especially if you take his passive health regen into consideration.

tl;dr Has some useful skills for group play, but won't keep up with any low level content, shines in higher levels.

99% of all matches don't require you to be tanky. And the matches that do, strike out on your own for a moment, build stacks until you can oneshot every with your one and then just do 2+1 combos, feeding Nidus.

Its not that hard. If Nidus is not your speed, play something else.

I usually go away from teammates.
If somebody dashes to me and kills enemies instead of letting me 1 them to death I know I'm dealing with trolls so I just sit back and play with minimum effort while still gathering most of rewards.

If I need full power I dont go with randoms. Even peoples with little team instinct and knowledge can get into Harrow/Nidus way 50% less often if they try to. 70% less if you instruct them.

not when you know how to play........

Get away from teammates > build first stack > link enemy > ???? > profit

As someone who adores Nidus, the biggest issue with Nidus is that there isn't enough content that really lets you take full advantage of him, especially if you're matchmaking and not playing solo. The only modes where he really excels, imo, are the endless modes, where dozens of enemies, whose power levels are constantly being ramped up with each wave, are thrown at you at a time and it's a consistent flow of them, rather than a few clumps here and there.

Outside of that... he's just "okay." I'd rather take a Volt (for speed) or an Excal/Mesa (for brainless killing potential), otherwise. Though, to be honest, most frames would have it better than Nidus in your average Exterminate mission. If you want a similar "tanky" playstyle, just throw on Inaros and never die.
Nidus is tanky right out of the box, skills only makes it better

put umbra mods on, get 100-130 dur and 200str, use your 3-4.

2+1 is to gather stacks reaal fast and you might wanna play on the other side of the map away from other players until you get around 20-30 stacks. nidus is great for endless
FALLENV3GAS Dec 15, 2018 @ 6:47pm
Fat stacks.

Seriously though he is super tanky when you have around 20-30 stacks and combo his 3 and 4. He takes a bit longer to be a tank then Rhino who is it right out of the gate but when you get to that point, he gives Inaros a run for his money.
Zefar Dec 16, 2018 @ 1:24am
Nidus isn't tanky normally or when he has like 20-30 stacks. Those stacks are quickly depleted when fighting Grineer or Corpus if you just plan to take damage. Much like how Rhino Prime buffed with armor buffs is still pathetically weak against normal enemies because armor does so little.

But it's Nidus link ability that makes him to an absolute tank. Also he just needs to put it on ANY enemy after you have 1 stack and you're pretty much unkillable.
For best effect put it on a Heavy Gunner type enemy or Bombard. The more health and armor it has the better.

By equipping him.

Okay so equip health and armor mods PLUS either Rage or Hunter Adrenaline since nidus has no shields so easy direct conversion of health to energy in a tight jam when you need energy. Now equiop stretch and all ability range mods that you can. NOW play a game and use your 2nd ability to pull all enemies into one spot and spam your 1 over and over until you get 100 stacks. Enjoy. Also throw on a few effeciency mods for good measure.

I never found Rage to be good on Nidus. His first ability regenerate energy if it hits more than like 3 enemies or so and when there are a lot of enemies nearby the second skill will make it so he has high amount of energy after spamming the first ability. So use that slot for Rage for something better.
