In the video he also failed to say that Simaris will tell you in the beginning of the mission (like Simaris did at 1:27) if there is a Synthesis target in the mission. Track down the target, use trap if you must and scan 4 spots on the target.
1) I would recommend elimination or defense as there are a set number of missions. Ignore using the scanner until the mission is complete and you have the option to extract.
2) Do not extract, but now go on the hunt for the target (particles flowing away from you is the direction to go)
3) If you are using a PC, then hotkey were the traps are as you have to aim then throw them at the target.
4) If you fail 3) then chase down the target while trying to scan them as shown in the video.
I would offer to use my under powered alt to help, except I think the mission is solo only.
Best way to search for them is to enter each room on the map and quickly look through the scanner for a fraction of a second. If the target is close enough, Simaris will speak up and mark him on your HUD and map.
The UI is different as it is a older version of Warframe, but how it is done is exactly the same. This is a much more detailed version.
